  1. Certainly ethylene glycol is denser than water so that's probably why it's quieter is my guess. Pump will probably consume a bit more power but hey ho!
  2. Ta, but do I scuff up / sand off the paint on the mrpb where I want to tile?
  3. Yep I thought that. Sill tile covers about 50% of a square: One awkward tile to cut then mixing up 'n layin' some!
  4. Just bought the stuff I want off eBay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/30-x-100g-SACHETS-NEOSOREXA-GOLD-RAT-BAIT-RAT-POISON-PROFESSIONAL-GLOVES/112554663781? You have to wonder how they circumvent the licence regs?
  5. Going to get some on today! But will it look right @Nickfromwales, not having a full square at the bottom of the mosaics? Doing it "your" way as in backs on first.
  6. Came downstairs this morning to do SWMBO breakfast and heard something above the lounge ceiling. Took tea etc back up and said "We've run out of poison!" "I only wanted breakfast!" she said. Off I went to the feed shop where I've been buying Neosorexa Gold for years to be told they don't sell it anymore as they don't have a poison licence. Told to try the nearby DIY shop and agricultural machinery place. Got some Big Cheese brand blocks and a bait station for £20. Seems the rodentcide laws have change restricting sales, types and quantities that Joe Public can buy. Even farmers etc I think have to go on training courses.
  7. Just got a few tiles cut ready for a big push! At some stage I've to tile the narrow "shelf", the width of the wall with a mosaic upstand. Tbh this bit was always planned to be tiled so I didn't pay too much attention when plastering along here. I forgot to leave the bottom of the white wall where the mosaics are, unpainted. It's mrpb painted with Leyland Super Leytex. Should I scuff this up or sand down etc pre tiling? Cheers
  8. Brick / woodgrain effect Fablon? Hammerite Special Metals Primer will stick to that. Rough it up and wipe down first. Halfords do it. B&Q do a Fortress one.
  9. Can't remember who put me into County Battery but decent crowd to deal with: https://www.countybattery.co.uk/drill-batteries-/?cookies_accepted=Y&features_hash=9-49755
  10. Living the dream here tonight! Could only pull the carpet (if you can call it that) back so much: Sod's Law I missed doing a clear hole and hit the threshold. Still theres a gap down into the void: For some of this! Galvanised cover plate on and hoovered up! Back to the telly! Discussed with my mate and when it happens well just open the patio doors and have a "gut it" weekend. Ceilings down, walls to bare brick / block and floors, inc joists out. Got to sort the play room as a temporary lounge before that!
  11. I'll be SO glad to gut this lounge & diner to the bare bones and redo! Where I went through the floor: The repair: This was a while back. The collapsed board I've replaced. The chewing was just above that corner where the skirting is.
  12. Sitting here with a beer watching Cobra Kai and there's a bastard trying to chew through the HARDBOARD (yes HARDBOARD ) wall about 2' from my elbow! Time to dig out the hole saw (Super Rod Cavity Master kit ) & chuck a hole through the CHIPBOARD (yes and not even flooring grade chipboard) floor and sling a freezer bag of Neosorexa Gold down there for it to munch on.
  13. All that needs is a soft lit glass display case over it to show it off!
  14. Just because it's all in a cupboard behind a door doesn't mean a lot in the context of these new regs. It's a blanket thing that wiring systems now be supported such that it'll not be subject to the support system collapsing in the event of fire. If then there's a chance of a fire starting in the airing cupboard it's an issue. Trouble is where does it stop? Fire in the loft causes the joists the cables are clipped to to collapse and so on.
  15. Kitchen looks good. Nice attention to detail from what I can make out. At least those subway tiles are wipe clean when you cover it in dust doing the other two walls. Get those other external gaps sorted though! Camera looks crap like mine!
  16. Resin anchored studding won't split the blocks...just fit to miss rafters / joists.
  17. 521.10.202 I referred to above; Note 3 "precludes" (the word used) the use of non metallic cable clips as the sole means of support where cables are clipped direct. The inference is that it applies to the whole installation. WTF they don't say that in plain English is beyond me. There is an IET circular somewhere I have that says "whole installation". If I can find I'll scan and post it. EDIT: Sorry, yes, "non metallic" i.e. plastic trunking as the sole means of support is a no no now. EDIT: Saves me finding/scanning the paper copy: https://electrical.theiet.org/bs-7671/18th-edition-changes/
  18. From a quick look in the BBB: Though it might be protected by virtue of being in the cupboard, behind a door, the reasoning for the cabling in trunking is down to "external influences" in this case an external heat source - i.e. the pipes. You've likely got 70degC pvc T&E near pipes hotter than that. The trunking provides protection against those expected external influences. By shielding the cable with the trunking you avoid the effects and tick the box. (See Section 522) Yep, 521.10.202 basically says you must support the cabling so as the support system doesn't collapse in the event of a fire. Stems from the LFB and other services entering buildings where there are still live cables hanging down as well as the danger to those evacuating the building.
  19. Lots of info at good old Paving Expert: http://www.pavingexpert.com/grano_01.htm
  20. Ta, at my leisure then! Going to tank, tile & grout the pocket first so I can work off the cover over the bath. Then I'll just have to work out of the bath to do the pocket side of the bath only.
  21. Like I said, as soon as it's finished I'll give you a shout and you can come and practice your handstands!
  22. I did something similar see page 54 for recipe:
  23. When tanking (Aquaseal kit) you first put on a primer, leave to dry for two hours then apply a horizontal coat of membrane and 6 hours later a vertical coat of membrane. Are those times set in stone? As in could I prime tonight, first coat of tanking tonight then second coat Friday? I've just primed. First coat of tanking will go on at 19.30 hrs tonight. I won't be up at 01.30hrs to do the second coat! Ta
  24. 99.9% sure that Airflow one from TLC is 230V but has a 24vdc motor in it. Some come with a separate 24vdc trannie. I might be at TLC Friday afternoon so will ask to have a look at one for you.
  25. Too late! With hindsight etc.
