Kitchen electrical changes and certification
Onoff replied to KitchenPotcher's topic in Kitchen Units & Worktops
The way I read page 11 is that in Wales, if adding sockets etc in a kitchen then it's notifiable work. -
This lot then: http://www.china-delong.com/en/ShowProducts.asp?id=37

It seems that the likes of Ali Express and Alibaba are awash with compact, no fly lead RCBOs very similar to what SBS were doing. The older "tall" RCBOS generally used had fly leads, a blue neutral and cream (functional?) earth. The SBS compacts had neither. Just L&N at the top and L&N at the bottom. Good too that they were non polarised, didn't matter what was in/out. Also they were 6KA rated. They did an unusual 25A rated one which was nice and went up to 40A. Not sure if you can get these in the UK: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004798334588.html?

Looks like someone is already cashing in: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/256056240045?

Trouble is that's double width. "Compact" ones are only 18mm wide like a standard RCBO.

Back on thread... I'm trying to hunt down a make of true DP switching, compact RCBOs, up to 40A with no fly leads. Anyone?

@ProDave do me a favour and post up on TEF I wish to be deleted or whatever from the forum. I've been banned for 3 months for "making it personal". When I think of the years I was on there and that upstart with a Napoleonic complex couldn't even pm me...

Thanks for the support over there, you know who you are!

Well I reckon that's me banned from the electrician forum. Just called that Richard the ninth a see you next Tuesday on the open forum. Power mad little turd.

That would be Ben King. Must be why he didn't answer my email a week or so ago. Nice enough bloke. My lad sorted out their DIN rail mounting blanks a while back. From the prototypes he 3D printed & .stl/.stp file he did they had 10K injection moulded. Gave him a job reference too.

e.g: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004603268614.html? Chinesium no doubt, but just like @Pocster they'll always find a back door. -
They'll have to be deeper if you want to span 8m than they will at 4.5m!

Thanks. So reading back there's no joint tapes at rooflight upstands, where it meets a wall etc? (Like you would use if tanking a wet room). It relies on the inherent flexibility of the paint? But the joints between boards have matting laid down first. ?

@MJNewton how's the Desmopol standing up?

I've put in two new build windows, two replacement windows and 3 doors, all upvc. The windows were new and the doors all secondhand. Limited experience then but I'd go for Compriband or Illbrück equivalent tape every time over foam. If I had to use foam then Illbrück FM330 over anything else. I'd really urge you to watch White Gold about how not to fit "double glazing". It's on Netflix.

Plus the ribs he had removed.

You forgot self cleaning 🤮

Why do you always have to make it about you?

You like a gadget, buy a volt stick: https://www.screwfix.com/p/fluke-ac-non-contact-voltage-detector-pen-1000v-ac/85949

I think Flexi Tap Tales would have been a better thread title.

The 100mA RCD at the house end, feeding the swa to the garden room needs to be time delayed to allow for selectivity. I've done this on a TT system but also incorporated a switched fused for overcurrent protection. I took one of these: https://www.internet-electrical.co.uk/switchgear/switchfuses/lewden-single-phase-switchfuse/lewden-fs6380100-white-metal-single-phase-switch-fuse-with-63a-80a-100a-fuses-for-domestic-installations-ip40-100a?gad_source=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI59qb_Lq5hAMVuJlQBh0q-wetEAQYASABEgKcr_D_BwE The swapped out the DP isolator for one of these: https://www.ledbulbs.co.uk/products/lewden-100a-100ma-2p-2-module-rccb-100-100-2sa?variant=39691026628666&gad_source=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI2IPbuLu5hAMVl5tQBh2QSgQOEAQYAiABEgJUV_D_BwE The SWA goes from their to the new consumer unit in the outbuilding.
