@Barney12 in here had to do similar in the roof of one of his outbuildings. Hang on and I'll see if I can find a link.

Suspended on what, a wire or a tube so it can't spin? Got a link to the one that's too expensive?

In this house we call that "balmy". -

Some good info and ideas here in @Ferdinand's blog: -
The key comment here I guess is they've apparently paid heed to better insulating their old place? https://www.theguardian.com/money/2021/oct/23/its-been-brilliant-air-source-heat-pump-will-recoup-cost-for-owner How do those costs equate to a proper passive type build? As an aside are all the Tory MPs really going to give up their AGAs in their country piles?

Costs of Retro Fit v Dig up and re-screed UFH
Onoff replied to Digger1's topic in Underfloor Heating
Sometimes I wish I hadn't found this place or it's predecessor. Before then I just owned "a house" and all houses were nominally equal, just bigger or smaller. Up until then I thought PIR stood for passive infra red. Airtightness was something to do with Tupperware. Then I went and visited a passiv esque house. It was shortly after this that the realisation / depression set in. ? -
If anything the stove probably runs a little cooler than a car exhaust I think. Not as hot as a microwaved croissant mind! Did this the other night, nuked a stale croissant for 30 seconds. Put it to my lips and whoosh, a jet of scalding steam came out of it: It looks like something I've caught off @pocster! Attractive eh?

This is handy, goes in a standard mastic gun: https://www.zoro.co.uk/shop/not-categorised/not-categorised/exhaust-assembly-paste-150ml/p/ZT1229828P?

Nope, that's well "rough" enough. Guessing you might have used the waterproof additive? Looks a nice creamy mix there.

Looks good ?

Living Room DONE...

Our old Sharp 42" died after giving sterling service for many years. I'm always making dust and plan (one day ?) to knock the lounge diner into one plus build a big false chimney to house the AV bits and some structural support for the dormer above. Before then and in need of a telly I bought an Aldi special 50" for just over £200 I think it was. Sound was a bit crap but coupled with an old pc surround sound kit it's very watchable -

Very nice. Mind that telly looks a bit lost ? -
Not up to me, not my lathe. He doesn't want to drag the lathe away from the wall even so I can properly get to the motor.

Though I've had books 16 & 24 from the same Workshop Practice series for years, I recently bought this book: Very interesting so I tracked the author down and emailed him. Had a lovely response from him as to what he thinks is happening with the BiLs converter, how it works etc.

If you went carefully, and I mean very carefully, you could use your expanding foam gun to put some blobs here and there to keep the stacked stones in place whilst you render up against them. Remember less is more!

Do not use sharp sand EVER in a mortar gun! Just a cement/soft / builder's sand mix. https://www.screwfix.com/p/roughneck-brick-mortar-gun/67965

Just like your hampton bends to the left! ?

Use a couple of bits of sacrificial timber and wedge between that. One thing that might work is beg, steal or borrow the biggest adjustable spanner you can. Slip it over the top of the bent plate and gently "tweak". The longer the lever the easier. Again put something under the jaws to protect the paint.
