  1. And I think the rednecks will revolt (another civil war.)
  2. Ooh I would not do that, it will stink in a short period of time, much better to build bird boxes outside in their natural environment.
  3. The wall is cold because it has no/little insulation plus you don’t have enough ventilation to remove the condensation. The bathroom and kitchen are the dampest rooms in a house. Is the wood soggy? If so you will need to dig it out and fill with another piece of wood, if sound just sand and paint.
  4. Does the roof sag at all that side ? If not I can see no reason for it. Also additional timbers added to other bits don’t IMO serve any purpose. Have they added solar panels above the sistering, which might be why additional strength was added.
  5. It’s because of silly prices and a housing shortage. My son has recently bought a house on an estate because he could not afford anything “better” and the only reason he had the deposit was because of some money he inherited from his grandfather ! Yes I would not buy one but because of nearly 50 years of doing up houses I have climbed the ladder somewhat and when I peg it he can pay his mortgage off. 🤷‍♂️
  6. No two people are the same re comfort levels, I don’t like being overheated and that would be anything over 20’ in my case. I am sat in the North facing shaded part of my cottage at 18’ with the doors open and feel very comfortable but I know others would not be.
  7. Ah no, I used to live there, Shrewsbury is the town, salop is the county of Shropshire.
  8. From those pics I would guess the roof is concrete, so heavy, and depends if there is a join in them over the wall. Is there a span which does not have a wall (apart from the two ends?)
  9. Air movement is key and the fan is removing it but you need air going in to replace it. You say the mould problem is cured so I would leave it 🤷‍♂️
  10. One of my gate fobs stuck to the dashboard of my car, easy……
  11. But, the nests are only occupied for a short time, after that they are empty for the rest of the year 🤷‍♂️
  12. https://www.screwfix.com/p/zinsser-bulls-eye-1-2-3-primer-sealer-white-1ltr/10135
  13. No such thing, yes photo please.
  14. Ah, I meant car mirrors (I have a junction near me where I use a door mirror to see if the road is clear)
  15. I didn’t do any calculations mine was based on gut feeling, all I know was my bills were small and I was very comfy.
  16. And @Pocster should know 👀
  17. As long as it’s removable (even by crane) it’s classed as a caravan, it’s only when it’s deemed self contained accommodation I.e. completely separate from the house that planning is required. https://caravantastic.com/2020/09/25/planning-permission-for-static-caravans-on-private-land-do-i-need-it/?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjw88yxBhBWEiwA7cm6pah5LYPzGfEsqfLz2768MrtIMM63jlzfWZLJdody2cYY_wYWi_SyPBoCpFoQAvD_BwE
  18. I was told by my plumber who signed off my tank not, it must be visible to be “venting”, was he wrong?
  19. Well it’s not a public road so I guess it would be treated as a “drive” that someone else has access too. Still might be worth contacting highways for guidance I guess, but could you say it was “existing”?
  20. Ah, only @Drellingore can answer that one but I assumed private drive 🤷‍♂️
  21. But that is for road junctions not drive access! I had to fight to get highways out to see my proposed 90’ drive access with full visibility splays and when they did they would not recommend it to planning, they would only “not object” beggars belief (but I won in the end 👍). Might be worth contacting highways in your area fir guidance.
  22. Quick garden.co.uk. Is where I got my log garage and they do bespoke builds, design what you want and let them give you a quote.
  23. I would have thought the insulating properties of 38mm or 44mm thick logs would have been sufficient for the short periods of use. As steamy says log cabins for outside use. (And they look good).
  24. What about a static caravan, if it’s not self contained ( son will need to use the house for cooking or sleeping etc) then it’s allowed. Or a touring caravan again which is allowed. Or a garden office, timber frame or log type. (Kids tend to leave home, Eventually).
  25. How much will it be used ?, if very often/long hours then maybe worth insulating but if not then heating it for short periods will be fine IMO. Yes that slab looks OTT to me.
