Hi, just to say we plan UFH in our slab from our ASHP and thanks to Jeremy he has worked out how to reverse engineer the ASHP to cool the slab if required. We plan to take a loop from the ASHP to the MVHR so we could instal a wet heater in the duct which again could cool the air if required. I will also cable to the MVHR in case we decide to install an electric heater. Cable and pipe in at first fix as its better than retro fitting in a finished house ?.

mains water - how to bring it in and up through slab
joe90 replied to MarkH's topic in General Plumbing
Thanks guys. Well I am in the situation of already having a connection so don't have to worry about what the water company want, but good to know what is the gold standard regarding this. -

Is it necessary to run the blue water pipe in a duct? What's the lifespan of the stuff? -
Day one - we finally get started.

Another cheap 12kW Kingspan Aeromax ASHP
joe90 replied to Stones's topic in Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP)
I just looked on EBay and there are quite a few, first one I saw was 10Kw and £479, didn't look at the spec but there are loads. I bought my kingspan ASHP, 5Kw and £750. -
Also dark sealer does not show dirt etc like white or light colours do

I agree, grout always tends to crack when joining different materials, best use a flexible sealant. I was very impressed by the other thread with a u tube video on how good ct1 was ( and nicks comment on the white one going yellow).

Do you have to bury the pipe in soil if it's under a timber floor ?, maybe a little bit.

I totally agree with Jeremy above, it's called a bonus ( that you have to work for, not just expect !) it's the same with estate agents, fixed fee should apply, ( with shared bonus for any money ABOVE the asking price) .

If anyone else wants LEDs and drivers from EBay I can recommend "Dream-led2013", I even changed my order at the last minute and he sent it without even waiting for the extra £8 to be sent to him.

Just had a quote from my architect to do the drawings for the building regulations ( no design involved, just plans and spec to pass building regs) of £1750 plus sap calcs and S.E. calcs if required.

All the kit has arrived from eBay and going to site next week to "illuminate" my workshop. Jeremy, the power supplies you recommended look very good. Thanks all.

+1, new pipe all the way. I had a similar pipe in my last house but knew I was selling so didn't invest in renewing it before it broke. Peace of mind is very worthwhile if you are staying there.

I refer to architects as " artistic house designers" , like most people on this forum I don't need an architect I just need an architect technician to get past building regs and do CAD drawings for the builder.

Thanks Jeremy, I will copy you and power from both ends.

What do you get when you buy a new ASHP
joe90 replied to Stones's topic in Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP)
I may be wrong but I think someone told me the controller allowed the user to have more control over the fine tuning of the ASHP. i.e. Make it more efficient. -
Well, finally ordered the lights, 5 off 5630 5 meter lengths with shrouded power supplies as per Jeremys advice, however their spec page says each 5meter length runs at 6amp ( 72 watts) and no mention of power to both ends of the strip? Is it ok to power from one end like they say?

I didn't even get a controller ( but I knew this and it was a silly price). -
Well er indoors and I have talked this over and we like what Jeremy said earlier, so no NHBC or similar and take out indemnity insurance if we have to sell. We had the same conversation as Jeremy and feel that we both would probably not sell after one of us pegs it because of the input into the build and the location. Thanks one and all for your valuable input.

Thanks guys, tomorrow's job list is to get quotes. I still think it's bonkers that I pay the building inspector to make sure it's built properly then I need someone else to also inspect it to give me a certificate !!!

Firstly I bought an Austrian Sythe and a petrol strimmer and the Sythe is so much nicer to work with. Secondly the mower I have is a petrol mower ( four stroke) cuts like a flymo ( non cylinder) has wheels and has power to the wheels so you don't have to push it, best mower I have owned so far. The only thing I wish it had was a rear roller which I think gives a better finish ( stripes) . After our new build I will be buying a ride on mower as we have 1/2 acre of field as well as 1/4 acre of garden ( but intend to get lambs and geese etc) .

Well I have just had a quote from the architects to do a set of nine inspections and produce an architects certificate of compliance and including VAT they want £2750 ? Will it be cheaper to get indemnity insurance if we do sell within the 10 years?

Nice doors.
