  1. '.... are they pig-nosed ....'. an interesting question. Wish I knew the answer. Each point-fitting cap has a single blind hole in it , about 5mm deep - I've assumed that's for a pin to tweak the cap a bit tighter. But tell those of us who don't know whassa pig-nosed dooberry?
  2. The fixings are all level within the thickness of a laser line. But - that really important word - but - the wall isn't as vertical as I would like it. My rendering is a bit erm.... 'out'. I have compensated where necessary by using a half-thickness nut : and if like me you need cheap specs to see anything these days, the bubble on the level appears moderately vertical. If I take my specs off I can't see the bubble: at best I see two or sometimes three: if its windy my eyes are so full of tears that it's not worth guessing whether its vertical or level. Which is where the aural feedback from my laser level is just the job for me - 'til I go deaf I suppose. Don't mention cats to me. With three young tomcats knocking about the scaffolding like drunken trapeze artists, and a spot laser level which projects four points (1 up 1 down, 1 left 1 right) and a 90kg bit of glass being heaved about the place ... They learned to steer clear of me just in time. Just before they would have needed a trip to the vet.
  3. - - her fixings be? I've always avoided messing about with glass. And here I am just fitted 90Kg of pure joy (lots of Brownie points from SWMBO) glass Juliet. Looks well. Hell, I even measured out the holes correctly - all four fixing points lined up a treat . And then it came to tightening the bolts on the four fixings. Suddenly I had a fit of the vapours. Knowing my ability to FooketyFookItUpAtTheLastMoment, I thought it is perfectly possible to overtighten everything and BANG - a @Pocster glass-fook-oop moment. I looked for the fitting instructions - none. I went back to the manufacturer to ask. Zippo. I looked for guidance from the fittings manufacturer. Nowt. How tight do I tighten the point fixings (the ones that go through the glass) the nuts on the threaded M10 that goes through the wall Please? Thanks. Here's the original thread if needed
  4. There are a few ways of framing this problem. One of which could be ; It's a wire. Its on your land. You don't talk. Some might think that puts you in a very strong position indeed.
  5. There's a good deal of competition in our deepest-darkest-Fylde-Coast-desert-with-wind-in-it-tumble weed-pub. A while back a deer jumped onto a passing car late one evening. By the following morning it had already been distributed into local freezers. Pigeon anyone? Yawn.
  6. With proper permissions, and a bit of care a good deal of practice, it's fine to shoot pigeons. The problem I have is getting it past SWMBO: hence image intensifier and night shooting: Shoot> recover> bag> bin> pub> return all smiles. "Nice time sweetheart? " "Yep" "What are those feathers stuck to your boots? " "I cleaned out the chickens earlier today" Pheeeewww . Close.
  7. Yeah, right. We'll all believe you Gary. If memory serves me she slated your last roof. ..... You don't like heights do ya .....🫠
  8. Excellent advice and exactly why we got planning permission in the first place.
  9. £40 of pure joy from Aldi. An appropriately sized fan heater. Small, medium and large.
  10. We're always interested. One day you'll return the favour - not directly to us but to others. The Yanks say it best: Share The Lurve Man
  11. Yes. Directly - orally - from the Officer concerned - but a month or so later. And when we got PP , the neighbour concerned nailed our access gate shut. The access gate serves our right of way across his garden. Could I suggest you swop worry about the outcome with real busy-ness doing something else. Unless the issue is Material to the planning Application, the comment is likely to be irrelevant (Immaterial) Here, have a bit of a titter on me (PS : it really hurt - read on)
  12. Go public. 6 months is intolerable. Just intolerable. Find out which Social media they (SW) use and state your case simply and succinctly. Stress the hardship - "If this had happened to the CEO of Scottish Water this would have been fixed by now " "Would he (she) allow her baby to suffer in the way ours is" ? Email the CEO. Find out where he / she works : block his / her car parking space Local paper - you get the picture .... Arrange a streak in the SW HQ office foyer : have the press ready (but be modest) Trustpilot Facebook Instagram etc. MP= waste of time, Local Councillors - maybe Thank you for the clearly written post. It helps a great deal. Off to the barricades now then? Freedom For Citizens = Dundonians and all ! A water supply would be good if you can, please?
  13. Exactly that happened to us. Result - PP was awarded. Planners are used to neighbourhood grouches. I defer to @jack above - in addition to what he says, Planners are duty bound to make a fair representation of the spread of comments: for and against.
  14. Oooops. If the person who told you that your development could not be completed under PP had the authority to make that statement then - Stop and apply for PP. Sorry to give you bad news but the more time and effort you invest in the project, the worse the outcome could be. We are not experts, just interested, hard-bitten amateurs. There might well be a good outcome - in all likelihood you'll need to apply for Retrospective Planning Permission. 3 months isn't that long. many of us have experienced far longer delays.
  15. Wonder whether his nuts cracked on the way through? Hold on - are we saying that Minnie has nuts as well? Ooooohhh er .... hmmm
  16. A small super cheap electric underfloor heating element, and an electric towel rail, both on a timer. For two bathrooms, underfloor electric mats were £50 each (Wickes end-of-line-sale) , heated rails £350 and £400 (the more expensive one fits in a corner), Thermostat not needed (on full for two hours at a time - or an additional two hours boost) Timer £45, sparky fitted and tested £86. Be sure to buy a continuous circuit tester if you are laying tiles over the underfloor mat. (£10) Two bathrooms £1000. SWMBO loves the fitting in her bathroom.
  17. Well, they look like they're enjoying themselves. Ermmm, who's where, and which way is up? I bet @Pocster will have a view on that matter.
  18. I live in a 3G house thats right next to our old 2G house. Exposed to the same noise, with all the windows shut in both houses, the 3G house is quieter. Not much, but noticeably quieter. The noise of water running in our metal guttering keeps me awake - it really does sound like a little boy tinkling from the top diving board into a bowl of water 20 feet below. Funny at first bit at 3a.m. not so much. I now understand why that lifeguard threw me out of the swimming pool. Couldn't stand the noise.
  19. Where's @nod (Gary) when you need him ? Being entirely inexpert at rendering (my shoulders still ache from last summer) , I'd say - be careful and neat. Just like yer mum told you when you were a teenager.
  20. Here's a link to a quick image search : result - possibly for flower arranging. (In Chrome: Google Lens > right click your image> copy the image url > paste into Lens ) https://lens.google.com/search?ep=gisbubu&hl=en-GB&re=df&p=AbrfA8rwK_fYLBGcsvYHT2pF8xGPcHGXNbSsZHfXeAo75ujBOaFTfGNiE3N4EyWNsMUOobSAAa5bi-OvnTvOSybFqzeWYotxXJCoCgGiDWYj6saGGFCb4V3Dv7eSWVGpKHmhg8ddYIlVLn1yaJXMQ8HhT_SSJiHns2RVQR8elpUjcEl-t60m0T9EhlwDHHNqMJu-I_OEha0M7vxlhkDSNxVq8Fr3AVzijdJKhBMWTgDr4RN6P2HLr8gZ1jJc3YmxU4g7ytZWLEAA2LiKEy_guwQoLssaM9cBIA%3D%3D#lns=W251bGwsbnVsbCxudWxsLG51bGwsbnVsbCxudWxsLG51bGwsIkVrY0tKR0V4T1RWaE5URmxMV0l4TldFdE5EUXhOaTFoTWpGakxXUmlZMlkyWlRrMllUWTNZeElmVFY5ZmEyVnZWRE5uTTBWaE5FWXpjRVF5ZGpoaFkzVXRaVU5UV0RONFp3PT0iXQ==
  21. Some might argue that point occurs earlier. In our case that was probably becuase we started to fall in love with the place. For so long it was just paper, or a screen image - then it was a 3D animation, then paper / card model, then lines on the ground, then .... etc. There is so much emotion wrapped up in this 'thing' we are all building. In a very real sense it was once a figment of our imagination, then a chat in a pub, then a look from a partner, then a dream ... all the way up to "Where The(expletive deleted)ety(expletive deleted)DoYouWantThisSoddingSocketDarling, please just make a decision and don't change your mind - again." We now have six - yes six - extensions hidden about the house. I lost those "WhereDoYouWantThis?" battles . Not all of them, but most.
  22. Welcome. Have you submitted your VAT receipts to HMRC ? That might help
  23. Good: .... the patience that is .... nailbiitng wears your teeth out.
