  4. How about trying this ... ? https://www.brickbutler.co.uk
  5. Snap! About four years ago. The most helpful concept? Persistence. Please ask away Good luck!
  6. Hello, and welcome. What a good idea. And I must say, I'm jealous: I'd love to have your little challenge. May I suggest that you consider maintaining the well of the wall before anything else?
  7. Joiner. Nice little job for a local tradesman. Guess at cost - A day to make, a day to fit, plus wood and fixings. Less than £500
  8. ... you know the routine. Why does the commonest electric shower layout require you to get wet while switching the damn thing on? Eh? Tell me that? Has any company recognised this is an issue and done something about it? Triton T300 (called 'Wireless') connects a control panel via CAT5 (I think) to a unit which sits the other side of a stud wall (or in a cupboard). (Here's a review of one that broke down) Some customers report they have worked well for many years. They are sometimes called digital electric showers. Others are less than impressed. I suspect complexity and over-thinking (Ha! That's a first for me - suggesting overthinking) Whats wrong with simplicity? The shower unit is switched on in a dry area of the shower room, and a pipe delivers water to the riser rail a meter or so away? Please, I know many here loathe electric showers. I don't. We've firmly decided on electric showers.
  9. Maybe a larger lever - something that can easily be nudged with the palm of my hand. As long as the tap 'action' is as simple as possible, I think I'll be OK.
  10. Hmmm, cut myself on a web the other day: you have a point. So how would you (do you) do it then Dave
  11. And there's the pity of it all. For the want of a horse the rider was lost etc. Sometimes I am extra glad I now live this side of the Channel.
  12. Irritating, lazy, arrogant, self-indulgent bar stewards. Their response to my email: So wird das immer gemacht (We always do it that way) Rubbish. Always doing it that way doesn't make it any more user friendly. For Geberit, user friendliness stops at their arses as far as I am concerned.
  13. You can get Gaulhofer for that price (£4.5k) ...
  14. In a self-build, there is a strong business case for purchase. Provided you take great care in the scaffold build phase, and then make safety almost an obsession, I see little down side. Well, maybe this is a down side ....
  15. Shame on you : MTFU. Buy a dishwasher.
  16. I am told that at one time, the ICF Durisol was made from recycled telephone cable drums. Not so now. Too much demand. But Hell folks, let's all pool all our waste pallets; mince them up, boil the minced wood, drench the mush in Portland cement , shape it into a nice block and leave to dry. And then pop a bit of recycled PIR in half of the hole - sell it. ?
  17. I went into this question in detail. Conclusion? It's one for the professionals Cost for a 10m by 10m house: £5000 flat. No rental for a year.
  18. Code for German? Make (Hersteller)?
  19. Morning all. I'm looking for standard PB water pipe: 10mm and 15mm. And I want Hep2O. Straight and coiled. You can't read this forum and disregard all the well-qualified advice. Yes, little bits of copper just in case @PeterW, @Onoff or @Nickfromwales turn up and look in the cupboards. Maybe my research hasn't been wide enough. Or careful enough. But I can't help but think that there's some confusion between barrier and standard Hep2O. Why, for example, does Screwfix only supply Barrier pipe (not available in the catalogue). Same with Toolstation Standard Pipe isn't listed. Why for example do local BMs appear to stock Barrier only? I am beginning to suspect that, yet again, local isn't best. Any suggestions for online suppliers? @Pete, @Triassic, @nod did you buy yours locally?
  20. Thanks for the slight relation. Bloody good idea. Cheque's in the post Dave. Ian
  21. Closely supervise the process myself. And the process starts long before purchase. Your observations are - as usual - perceptive and direct. Perhaps the only way of squaring this circle is to find a supplier who is prepared to let you talk to previous clients. Arrange visits to look at installations maybe; not sure about how much use that would be. For me at the time, I was on overload. It was too much to take in. But now , Hell Fire - now I'd be all over every single thing like a rancid rash. The client from Hell. Polite, focused, smiling , insistent. And so risk stepping over the line because I would then NOT BE a Domestic Client (CDM 2015) .
