Thanks for that info Jeremy, I was about to destroy the original plates for my car as I have personal plates. I will put them away until I sell the car. Most Ebay number plate sellers will sell as "Show" plates without the need for documentation however the plates need the postcode of the number plate producer at the bottom of the plate to pass the MOT technically.

Also consider Cuplock. Similar to Kwikstage but thicker metal and galvanised, so will not rust and will hold a better resale value. Look out on fleebay and include various spellings in your search (eg cuploc, cuplok, kuploc and kuplok) I found mine listed as Kwikloc and the price I paid, I could have made a profit by just weighing it in at the scrapyard. Sell on when you have finished and get back most if not all of your money.

A friend of mine is building a large model railway layout and used loads of the off cuts to build scenery. He said it was easy to sculpt the hills that he then covered with plaster of paris.

On a previous renovation project I installed UPVC and as the manufacturers described it, had the joints knifed and polished. This was far superior to the routed joint that seem to be the norm these days. These were done at no extra cost.

+1 for having the smoke alarms on one of the lighting circuits.If they are on there own, you may not notice if they trip. If they are off a lighting circuit you will soon notice.
