  1. As nick says it just looks like how they put k rend on but adapted to use skim. I would think it would take quite a few mixes to perfect how creamy you need it to be so it can be sprayed out and hold on the wall without it running down the wall. Plastering is best left to plasterers. I am an expert at the old Spanish wall type look, bumpy as fook ESP when the sun shines along it.
  2. I am fully clued up on the healing capabilities of sudocream
  3. No fear of heights but have fell off lots of stuff over the years. Fell about 20ft of a substation and broke my left arm and dislocated the elbow on the right arm. Was very interesting going to the toliet for a few weeks.
  4. Finish the batten work on the roof of first. Once your up there you will get the knack of walking on it very quickly. a You won't put your foot throughout the membrane unless you try to ballet dance on it. Take last 2 trestles of your run and put them on top of your ones that are left. Depending on heights you might need to take the tops of to get them level with your roof. Load out the higher area with osb and tiles when the time comes and do the roof in sections. Move your scaffold further along then once you are finished the first section.
  5. You can build the outside walls of the foundation 315mm wide no problem. It will be 315mm as you will have a block on it's flat then one on it's edge of you use standard blocks but most block companies do foundation blocks that you can get 300mm wide or even wider if you want. You can if you want build them wider but it's not really needed. For the inside walls you usually build it up with a 215mm wall, block on it's flat, and then the very last course will be 100mm. A 100mm wall wouldn't stand up to getting backfilled with stone without it moving slightly.
  6. If you put the pipes under the shower it will dry out the trap and then you have the smell of the drains coming through.
  7. Have you used Google maps and bing maps to see if there is a difference in the pics.
  8. I made do with a 50m extension lead from my mum's for all the first fix and most of 2nd fix till NIE turned the power on.
  9. Be honest there is no way you lot would leave the tap running that long with your water meters.
  10. Yeah it's a 9 inch wall. Easy enough done. The in shot was a bit awkward to plaster as it was only slightly wider than a trowel so not easy to put skim on and get it smooth.
  11. Don't forget to keep checking your distances from the top as you go up. Use a chalk line to strike a line from side to side to give you a straight line to set the batten to. A hammer stapler will make your life a lot easier and quicker for putting the felt on.
  12. I used full fill cavity boards on my build but I done it myself so made sure every board was installed properly. That's why I mentioned beads. They get blown in and the cavity gets filled up with no issues. If you leave gaps using cavity boards then you get cold spots on the wall. How high of a risk is flooding???
  13. They are pretty common thing on sites. The fancy sites have electric motors doing the work. Make sure you inspect the rope regularly and the clamps on the bars as well.
  14. Why not just build a 100 mm standard block on the outside then 150mm cavity with beads blown in then another 100mm block on the inside. To boost your thermal properties you can go with a thermal block here. Will be cheaper and much easier to build. How much are solar blocks compared to standard or thermal blocks??
  15. It's possible to open the bag take the Rockwool out and thin it down a bit and then reseal the bag up.
  16. It's an old mqx box bought from Amazon near 3 years ago. Banned now from there due to kodi being preloaded on it. This would be a more up to date version. Just Googled it and found this on eBay. Never bought a thing from eBay so not sure if this guy is good or bad. http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/232383501032?_trksid=p2385738.m2548.l4275&_mwBanner=1
  17. Installed fine. The first pic is what it loads up to showing 4 places to load up camera feeds. The 2nd is the option menu.
  18. I have 2 of these type of android boxes and both of them the remote is brutal. I just plug in a mouse to go through the menu to play stuff. There are some you can use your phone as the interface. I use one for IPTV and it plays full hd easily. Most of the apps you need to load aren't available on the Google play store so I just search for the APK of whatever app it is and install it. Or I install the app from aptoide. What do you call the camera app and I will see if I can install it on mine, after the LFC match obviously!!
  19. Fair play to you for having the guts to say enough is enough and start again. Tell the builder to take you to court if he wants paid. List the work you are going to have to do to get back to where you originally where and say you owe me £xxx.
  20. Can't get into a mucky trench either.
  21. If you have long planks, 12ft-16ft, you can build a long ramp up to your scaffold and shovel it in. You would never keep up filling buckets and going up and down a ladder. Your talking near 80 buckets worth so your knees , fingers and wrists will be broke before you finish. Could a mini mix lorry get right up to the scaffold to save you wheel barrowing. Put some polythene down and empty it right beside it. Then it's only fill 4-5 buckets at a time and throw them up or wheel the barrow up and fill away. Mixed 8 m3 of motar before doing a 3ft wide retaining wall but I never left that mixer all day and could hardly lift my arms to collect the cash when it was done.
  22. You get the details from durisol about what they advise. Probably be 60-90mm of a slump. You phone the concrete place and order it to suit what you have been told. When it comes do a slump test and check it's what it meant to be. A traffic cone cut at 2/3 and 1/3 makes a decent cone shape to do a test of the driver doesn't have one. Add water if it needs some do a retest and only do a pour when it's spot on.
  23. For when you get to the ridge with the plastic edges you need another end cap to suit your tile. It sits over the edges coming up the roof and hides the join. Not sure what the other small bits are, hard to make it on your pic.
  24. I only had about 4 slabs out my front that formed the ramp up to my door with a further 4 at the door at the threshold height to give a flat area and it got passed ok.
  25. Yeah there main hq is in mallusk. At the time I was working for a firm which was based a few doors down so was handy. Not sure if they still sell there or you have to go via a builders yard. Was 3 years ago.
