I really feel for you. I met my BCO yesterday on site after phoning him on Thursday. I wanted to know what we need for a Temporary Habitation certificate - he said his boss doesn't like them but as we've not finished the garage it won't be an issue. We walked through the entire house and he gave me lots of pointers and suggestions. I 'fessed up about the OSB on the plant room walls - said its not a problem. I've now got my checklist and we're aiming for December. Can't believe the grief you're having, def keep emails and also lots of photographs of what they don't inspect just in case.

Nice - looks like a completely cold-bridge free slap/wall detail there? We did something similar. Your bracing is nice stuff - the ones we have don't have the platform option which would have been useful. You must have had fun keeping that big gable plumb!

In Scotland, councillors are quasi judicial (I think that is the term). You can lobby all you want but they make decisions on evidence not who cosies up to them. Not to say it doesn't happen of course but personally I would not even approach - given how obvious it would appear! No harm I meeting to discuss generally and that's it - if they all have to much involvement they would need to step aside from your decision in any case. I would focus on ensuring your application adheres to any local plans and a good supporting statement and appropriate evidence is presented. You could also 'meet the neighbours' if only to make them aware you're not a heavy metal, motorcycle cleaning driving loud living all hours person (which you might be in which case, maybe not) - if only to try make them less likely to object.

@Groseyused it too - looks cracking.

Are you building the Empire State Building? Concrete Cube tests a year later? I've have given them a big F and O! That was one reason we avoided Warranty - we don't need one as we'll be there fore a long time and are building it 'properly' but it's just an extra level of grief - as you say, what if they are not satisfied? Bonkers! Since this morning I've arranged to meet my BCO onsite next week to talk through what he wants for temporary Habitation Certificate. I hope he's happy with what he sees - no going back now!

It's probably slightly different in Scotland, but when it comes to mine it is as @Mr Puntersays brief inspection of the various areas by BC. When I talk to my BC about structural items, he was quite clear it's nothing do do with him - even if there is something that doesn't look right - he might suggest it but it's the Structural Engineers responsibility. Same for Electrics.

I've got 5 doors with external locks and...5 sets of keys. One of a plethora of things that I should have had the opportunity to spec when ordering windows and doors. I'm planning ordering matching locks for them all one day - but think it'll be pricey. Don't think I would order two of each, but based on this, it's a good shout and I'll order a 'spare' lock for the main door with different key should it be needed.

Is this for your Building Control or your warranty inspections?

Ordered, coming Friday. Thanks muchly!

@Nickfromwales thank you, much appreciated. 500L will do the job nicely! What do I need to do next? I'll just go for it now and that's another big ticket item off the list.

Fitting an undermount sink to granite

Second that, used for our sink to quartz and recommended by others. -
4x3kw sounds ideal. 1800mm will be fine I know that. Max diameter to get in and out without dismantling anything is 820mm. Within those dims would be pleased to have a price for 400l and 500l. I'll probably just order now too - might as well! Fancy a trip to Scotty land?! :-)

I'll need to check tonight but I think 2100 is just too high. I'd need to take a notch out of a joist or remove some plasterboard. It was one reason I went to 400L MF... Argh! Pic hopefully shows scenario - ceiling is low and sloping so limited room to play with! I've also realised yesterday that the plant room door is a 30inch door, because of height restrictions - once a 400l MF went in its not coming back out. Let me check @Nickfromwales. I think either way I need to compromise - I can probably do that by removing and altering some ceiling plasterboard - even better the slimline is 544, might fit between the joists without touching. By that spec and price seems spot on. Thanks, Jamie

Only electric.

I was going to go in on the Telford deal to avoid an increase but a) wasn't ready and b) couldnt see the spec I wanted.i.e 4x3kW and large tank.
-
Just DHW. 3 bathrooms.
-
That thought has crossed my mind Nick - if I needed it out I'd need to remove doors and linings, which isn't perfect. I could go 300litre but it's slightly tall for the space. I like long showers and would rather spend more now for a bigger tank (if we had people staying they all could have a shower at the same time) and the quickest recovery time. I keep going round in blimin circles with this! Warranty 2 years, expansion vessel 5.

@PeterW. They are not fire doors however planning fitting Batwing seals for noise reduction and a softer close - from what I can see these are used for fire and smoke as well of that helps?

Hi all, About to plaster round the the entrances to the plant room and then thought I'd double check the UVC dimensions. The rough opening is 880. This is on the tech spec and the support team are finished for the weekend. As you an see, the dimension is to the valve, not the actual radius of the cylinder. I'm too small by 40mm - will that valve be 40mm or do I have to get a smaller cylinder? @Nickfromwales. Any thoughts? I had left one stuff loose for the cylinder but we put off buying the cylinder and in between I've fitted the stud and gyproc and ready to plaster. I could go for a smaller cylinder but really want 400l. Thanks, jamie

HEP20 all the way I would say! I hate compression fittings now. Although my system only has one working toilet and sink at moment, all the runs are pressurised ad have a stop cap and all fine. Saves you a lot if time too in various ways.

I'll get some at the weekend and post them up.

Second that with flush hinges. Working great for me, save a lot of effort and looks as good.

And we thought our site was awkward...
