  1. Hi Lizzie, Not in yet but I have had a couple of baths just to test it out. The bathroom has turned out really well, full of all my ex display mega bargains. I am hoping to move in end of August. Will still be bare plaster & screed downstairs. Upstairs is a lot further on.
  2. I have a wall mounted basin tap, floor mounted bath filler & a freestanding bath. Really pleased with all of them. Most importantly, I also have a solution to the G & T or glass of wine & book dilemma for a freestanding bath, essential to any decent bathing experience. Wire shower caddy £19 from TK Maxx. Just the right height.?
  3. Thank you everyone. I am at work today so not had much of a chance to look. I hadn't thought of hotel furniture. Good one! I am not sure I am capable of making one. Taking me ages to fit the utility room cabinets. Going slowly so I don't make a mistake.
  4. Good point. It is more the bedhead with the bedside drawers I am looking for.
  5. Has anyone come across anything like this at a reasonable price?
  6. I've just bought a Kinetico Kube from Costco at a good price.
  7. Mine cost £85 from the energy assessor who did the original SAP assessment.
  8. PAB fixings from Hemel Hempstead installed my ideal combi windows. They are very similar to Velfac & Paul from PAB seemed familiar with Velfac's installation detail as well.
  9. I have just bought mine from BLT Direct. Luke was really helpful. Told him what I wanted in different areas & he worked it all out for me, including the drivers & connectors and aluminium profiles. Then checked his quote against other sites & found it was a good price & quality product.
  10. I am going to have some walls faced with birch ply. Winwood timber have been really helpful & supplied samples.
  11. @joe90 No idea which silicone. I had it fitted by a contractor about 10 years ago in my present house. I doubt it was anything special. I have just had vinyl laminate fitted in the new build & they have used clear silicone on the edges again. Different contractor & only in the last few weeks so no idea if this one will discolour. Fingers crossed it doesn't. If you are sealing windows internally & it is not subject to weather or excessive sunlight I would have thought you will be ok with clear. White is always a bit of a problem & yellows I find.
  12. Friend of mine installed a lovely glass one. Looked fab. Had it taken out after 6 months as too shallow & impossible not to splash everywhere.
  13. Clear silicone also reflects the light. I have it around the edge of my vinyl laminate flooring. It is mostly invisible but if the light catches it is shines. Forgot to say, it has never discoloured & is 10 years old.
  14. @PeterW Thats a comfort.? My house sits about 10ft higher than any around it on the side of an old ironstone quarry.
  15. The forecast for heavy storms towards the end of the week got me thinking about lightning strikes. Has anyone installed a lightning conductor on their build?
  16. I am going for a walk in shower. RAK 800. x 1700 shower tray. Very non slip. The tiles I want were going to be a pain to cut for the wet room tray. I used the Aquaseal tanking kit before fitting the shower tray. Reminds me I have a 1500 x 900 wet room tray spare.
  17. Was it @Onoff who quoted that. Hourly rate at minimum wage. These things can take a long time you know.
  18. I am not finished yet but will come in at around £275k. House is 147sqm. This price includes buying my neighbours garden, easement for drainage across field & woodland, all architects & planning fees, garage & landscaping as well as the build. House is interesting design, highly insulated, triple glazed with MVHR & 4kw PV. I have upgraded a lot of the interior fittings as felt the house warranted it., most purchased ex display or internet bargains. I will be about £50k over original budget, but this is due to a change in circumstances. We had to change method of construction, adapt foundations because of this and not able to do a lot of the work ourselves as planned. A lot of the internal work was done by myself & my husband & latterly by me on my own. It took 18 months to get planning, on 2nd attempt, & I am in my third year of building. At times it has been a dismal slog, other times exhilarating. I am now in sight of having an exciting, individual and sustainable house that I would never have been able to purchase. You will need to be determined, fast learning & hardworking. You also need to make 100% sure that your partner is up for the challenge as well.
  19. @lizzie At times I never thought I would get to this stage. I can't quite believe it. I remember when we were both having a traumatic time a couple of years ago and sharing the horror stories. Now yours is fab & mine is getting there.?
  20. @lizzie Thanks Liz. Those photos were taken ages ago. It has come on a lot since then. I am hoping to move in early July. It will be way off finished but upstairs will be liveable.
  21. @Russell griffithsMy house is mainly single storey & the guttering is very visible. That is why I chose to spend a bit more on that & cut back in places less on show.
  22. ARP from Leicester. I am really pleased with it, great quality but it was expensive, about £1000.
  23. @lizzie Hi Lizzie, I would be really grateful. I haven't seen anything as nice as yours. I am going contact the chap that did your blinds soon. I loved so many things about your house that I hadn't been aware existed.
  24. I have a large open plan space & want a double floor socket in the centre of the room behind the sofa for a lamp. Any suggestions? Didn't really want the brass flaps that lift up. I like the one you have @lizzie I have searched on line but didn't find any like it.
  25. @Triple07Very nice indeed. Love the white hob. What make is it?
