It like asking a client to chip in towards your class 4
-
I think it’s being misunderstood The contractor doesn’t have to pay into it unless he or she has seven or more EMPLOYEES I’ve paid into it for around thirty years and get subsidized Apprentices So I wouldn’t pass this on to the client and neither should he If he is actually paying into the scheme Which I doubt
-
I’ve just flicked through before leaving for work One thing that did jump of the page was the CITB levy Which is nothing to do with you While he can levy a 1% charge on subcontractors A contractor can’t do the same with the client

We’ve already have a company from the Isle of Man chasing us for the field that we bought behind our plots

If there’s an open field behind your house Enjoy the view while you can 😁

Exactly Dave The newel in shot is propped on a 160 block To make one side fit Once over they would dry assemble prior to sending out

I started fitted the stairs yesterday Made by a company that I’ve used numerous times They have totally cocked up there calcs With at least two newel posts cut wrong and a bigger problem that 30 mil of the bullnose height would need trimming Which of course can’t be done Personally I think there’s to much reliance on cad I currently framing on a university where nothing is working to drawings Looks like half a day off work tomorrow to meet up with the stair manufacturer Moving in date is creeping up 25th of this month

I’ve fitting ours this morning Prior to the quarts arriving Nearly all specify 6” 150 ducting Our previous Italian extractor stated that the warranty would be voided for anything less

nod replied to GEO-PAR's topic in Bricklaying, Blockwork & Mortar
Most Brickies will ear 75 k plus doing site work That’s with all the lost days with bad weather Probably far more in the south of England Id a Gang of Four at the weekends and there dad an uncle where my Tuesday and Wednesday gang Brickie 67 laborer his brother 74 8-4 and would use a pack of solid concrete block in a day and load up for the following day You May have a good gang that prefer cash jobs and just want a steady wage Your at the right time of year for outdoor work -

190 per day is cheap if they put a shift in Most can earn far more I’d wonder why they want daywork Stonework blockwork is really easy to price Ask them for a m2 price and offer to pay loading trestling and extra for pikes and fiddly bits Daywork can rack up -
I think it’s sash windows in general We used an award winning company Quickslide 30k back then So not cheap

Looking for advice on potentially "blown" skylights.
nod replied to taustin28's topic in Windows & Glazing
To be fair Most manufacturers won’t want to get involved in installing But will replace It’s a bit naughty pointing the finger at you It’s obvious that the units have blown No one’s fault Just bad luck that you have two duff units -

I think the supplier will tell you what you have already realized Dont remove the packaging till your ready to use it The rest will be fine if you do this -
Plus 1 Putting a solid tray in would be unusual and not as effective as a 600 high load dpc

Being as we are getting pressed by our buyers to vacate our previous build I’ve started going through our spreadsheets Though at one stage it seamed pretty pointless with materials costs rising weekly 420m2 We set out expecting to spend 350k Though I didn’t intend doing so much of the foundation work myself this time We have spent 305k But still have the oak stairs to pay for and tiles for one of the four bathrooms workshop d door and s door and all the landscaping and drive I’ve fitted the German kitchen and templates for quarts have been done today First job in the morning is to tell them to hang fire as I’ve fitted a run of units in the wrong place 😁 We have about 37 k to come back in vat we’ve followed and improved on our previous build Mostly German and Italian brands I we’ve both managed to carryon working full time plus 30 hours per week on the build But have spent far more time shopping around for materials Like last time We will post a spreadsheet showing a breakdown

The yellow Gypsum boards are perfect for this and easier to work with than cement boards
