  1. A small 2 story property needs 20m piles! Sounds a lot to me - do they need to get to bedrock?
  2. Hi and Welcome to THE forum for people like us. Sound like a great project look forward to hearing more.
  3. Right to light is a thing but not for planning. It can cost a lot to go to law over it but it can cost the people who infringe it shed loads. Get a feel for it here: https://www.onebroker.co.uk/business/business-sectors/one-indemnity/right-to-light-insurance/
  4. Do they have an established right to light (RTL) as there are specific rules for this. Is it 20 years qualifying period, can't remember, of they don't qualify there is no establish RTL. Also it only applies to habitable rooms not driveways. Both properties seem to be close to oneanother, I guess that's location, location, location for you. Have a look to see how many houses have got extensions like the one you are planning and see what the planning history for them is to get an idea of whats been allowed. Also RTL is not a planning issue it a civil law matter.
  5. We went with Norrsken after looking at Rationel, Nordvest and Norrsken. The problem with Nordvest was that they didn't have a local installer and only Norrsken could do a triangular tilt and turn window. We have been very happy with our Norrsken windows and Norrsken themselves.
  6. Just watched it - you two did a grand job. Mind-blowing effort 👌
  7. No not a problem just do the best possible, 2 supplies will make the flow rates lower so quieter. You need to do the math to work out the flow rates so you can get the right size pipes to keep the noise down tvhe bigger the better and double them up even better.
  8. Hang a tape rule out of the window to the ground and measure it.
  9. Looks like it should work but can you get the pipes where you need them. You want to try and get the supply vents across the room from the door if you can so you don't get any stale air pockets so if possible I would move them across a bit to be on the diagonal to the doors upstairs. Not sure why you have two supplies in the dinning room and might be worth checking the kitchen extract location in relation to the hob and defo put a sock in it to trap particulates. Did the designer give you the flow rates etc?
  10. Hi and welcome to THE forum for people like us.
  11. As it says on the tin really but somewhat thought provoking. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2024/sep/28/heat-pumps-future-hot-air-labour-home-upgrade?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other
  12. Very tidy - what nut inserts did you use and are they just press fit?
  13. Hmmmm... not sure they got to the bottom of it either - interesting watching them work through it though.
  14. I guess whichever way you look at it the limit is the limit not the target and the sums also work to tell you that you will be stopped from 29 mph when the 30 mph car is still going.
  15. Hi and welcome to THE forum for people like us. Civils is often a hot topic here but not in the big end of the market: Runways, Motorways, railways etc but rather the smaller end: drains, soil technics, foundations.
  16. Is that two MVHR extracts in the light square? If so why two and not a single large one - is it catch air from different areas or is there another reason?
  17. Hi, and welcome to THE forum for people like us.
  18. Sounds about right to me, scales nicely with the install portion of our supply and fit cost.
  19. Get a 4 mppt inverter
  20. Yes - hob on the island makes sense with a downdraft recirculating extractor so you don't clutter the ceiling. I would also break up the pattern of lights in the ceiling - it looks like you are coming in to land at Heathrow as it stands perhaps use a 4 - 3 - 4 - 3 scheme with slightly wider angle bulbs in the 3 lamp groups.
  21. Looks like a tidy job.
  22. For each window location the combination of glass functionality might differ, your supplier should know what the rules are, assuming they are certified (FENSA etc) I am not sure how the middle pane needs to behave in all situations and don't forget to decide how the glass responds to sunlight if you want to control solar gain etc.
  23. I would look to see if you can use the Illbruck Compriband tapes to seal the outside then inject the foam from the inside behind the compriband this is the way ours are fitted.
  24. I don't have a horizontal cylinder but the only disadvantages I saw / found when looked at one for here were: 1. Structural they are not really single point loads so you need to be sure you get them put above a suitable supporting structure. 2. Stratification of the water temperature is harder / impossible to achieve - this can be an advantage as well. 3. They loose heat marginally faster than vertical cylinders do.
  25. Yes- this was the guy our daughter employed to tile her kitchen - complete rubbish. Had to strip them all off and do it ourselves.
