  1. I wonder if there is maybe a rubberized plastic option which clips into place from either side of a hole?? @pocster. is there a particular Make you're looking at or a supplier you're using?
  2. If that's the sort of thing, I think our last one was about 4 quid from Tesco - no hold on - B&Q...
  3. no idea what a 'drogue position' is, but do you mean this sort of thing, albeit bigger? https://www.littlefieldsfarm.com/tubtrug-flexible-micro-370ml-red?of_tid=MFRWG5B5GE4TQJTGMVSWISLEHUYSM4DSN5SESZB5GE3DAMRY&adGroupId=43737471283&device=c&gclid=CjwKCAjw_MnmBRAoEiwAPRRWW-yR2w7nl994MfKA0i5t9PdPCC2V_FOz9nDQKUPqjGnpENotRn5jOBoCeh8QAvD_BwE
  4. I reaaalllllyyy like how everything arrives to a plan. It's the closest i've noticed so far to the 'it's just like lego' description i first heard of ICF. The only way I can really see that system being better is bespoke panel sizing or a wider range of block sizes to minimize time on site further. I watched an interesting video by fox blocks a while ago, about panelising the build off site. I guess that would be an interesting product to receives from a contractor - provide yor plans and name your blocks and then just recveive a panel plan to assemble on site.
  5. What about bastardising some durisol blocks and keeping them in place with something like helical ties
  6. So is it supposed to be quicker than using wood? This guy says noggins aren't needed. I had never really considered steel before. I assume it's more expensive?
  7. are you guys talking about stuff like this??(link below) It makes the process sound so simple....
  8. rammed earth, rammed earth with tyres, eco bricks - oooo so many exciting things for you to read about. And as mr 90 says don't feel daft. Most of my questions probably seem odd to those answering them, but there's always an answer out there!!!
  9. I know people are sometimes forced to have houses which are cut into slopes and what not. Imagine however a flat plot, how strange do we think it would be to have the bedrooms in a basement and the ground floor on the ground floor albeit above the bedrooms.
  10. If you were to renege and go with Internorm (if only for your front door) then you can pair a Loxone number keypad thing on the outside which integrates control i think for a doorbell and has NFC aswell. I think that plate is about 200 sheets. May work with other door systems of course.
  11. Central Vacuums seem awfully 1970's to me.
  12. ahhhhhhh - I hadn't imagined that. thought there might be another way with that system.
  13. oh god yes, hasn't everyone. I can't quite work out if it's a deliberate for the video though
  14. What did they say about rim joists?
  15. what now - Keanu Reeves?
  16. I'll take a peak at that hydrogen one later. I've sort of lost a bit of faith in them. Like 3D TV, promised to be great but just seem a bit pointless now. Why expend energy producing hydrogen to produce the energy, when you can just produce the energy in a sustainable manner and have a battery pack. I'd still have one i think because I like the idea of holding a handle and filling something up.
  17. Thanks chaps.
  18. The flooring in the first picture looks like that thick lino you often get in the disabled changing room downstairs at cheap gyms. I think 'Next Level' is a subjective thing. Is it a grand on crap units and 20 grand on expensive appliances, or is if granite instead of laminated chipboard etc etc. Obviously there's a base level underneath which anyone would think quality is crap. I imagine there's a reasonable percentage to be assigned to installation quality.
  19. Lets assume the DHW is dealt with by a seperate means (sunamp maybe), and UFH by a ASHP. How is it plumbed together? IS it just flow and return directly from the ASHP to and from the UFH manifold/manifolds?
  20. How about total embodied carbon for production? Well to Wheel is certainly a compelling argument but i'm interested in the birthing cost.
  21. I saw a 'corrugated' product at the Homebuilding show in March called Lewis deck. Seems to be an alternative to the normal sub-floor options. Have you seen that? If so was there a reason you discounted it as an option? https://www.cdi-icm.co.uk/system/lewis-deck/
  22. I had to cancel going tomorrow i'm afraid.I'm sure it will come up (of course if someone already knows the answer then post) but I'm be interested how they deal with hanging/seating joists. IN a polystyrene system it seems most sensible to me to hag a 'rim joist'?, like n the video in this link, but wasn't sure how they would go about this:
  23. hello @hallega. Marginally off topic (well sort of). Thay picture of the two blocks, Was that done in sketch up. I keep thinking about the design software side of things. IS the block you have drawn saved as an item in the programme which you can then effectively cut and baste to make a wall?
  24. There's a new World Foods shop opened where the old Aldi used to be, on Seymour Grove in Trafford. I'm told they've got a great range of Dolmio. Probably go and check it out on my Lunch!
  25. bang on - thanks
