  1. I was just waiting for someone to suggest lining paper ?
  2. Good idea. Plan was to put the bathroom sensor in the shower area which I will be screeding later. (Well I’ll actually be concreting the pipes in but I’ll leave it low so I can screed the falls later). But as you say there’s no harm in putting it in just in case.
  3. Next up is an update on the UFH. We’ve got one loop done today but now we are going out for lunch with friends so I doubt I’ll get any more done today. I am really impressed with these cutters, they don’t deform the pipe at all ??
  4. Ok. So first up is the taps I promised a picture of. None of the bits are top of the line but they were either free or as good as so I have got no intention of buying things I don’t need. Also there of some pics of the basins, a spare bath the utility room taps and the shower head. I also have 3/4 of the mixer bars lying around but I haven’t decided if I’m going to use those yet. The bath tap is ideal standard of that makes any difference.
  5. Yup. I got some taps with a shower head attached at the same time. £15 ill find a picture tomorrow. I’m in the pub now.
  6. I tried it yesterday, it's really quite comfortable sitting at the fat end.
  7. Because it was £20 and I’m slowly getting fatter. ?
  8. Don’t panic I put my tool box on one and the bath on the other. ? Iv nearly finished taping the joints then comes the exciting part.
  9. Well there’s no going back now. I used gap filling cement anywhere I mixed brands otherwise I just used normal cement. Now I just need to put some foam around where I cut the insulation. Tape the joints. Cover it in dpm. Then mesh , them I get to play with some UFH pipes ?
  10. Faye can pinterest all she wants, issue is she is rubbish at actually making a decision. (she will happily admit this herself)
  11. my thoughts exactly, also we are in a fairly hard water area so even with a softener I fear they will soon look crap, the other option would be to go for a lighter stone in a similar style, like this which wouldn't show the scale as quickly if at all but if I'm going for a "feature" surely I should go for a proper contrast against the travertine..... decisions decisions....
  12. I really should try to stay on topic but check out this bad boy. Assuming I get this all glued up tomorrow evening and the mesh down this is what my Saturday will entail ?
  13. In the corner of the shower where it is cut across at 45deg I will be putting some holes in. I am really tempted by these split slate tiles just for this section as well as I like the look of them but I’m still unsure about the cleaning of them. the rest of the sower area area will be travertine. I’m still undecided on the rest of the room. Paint , tiles or mermaid board. Luckily I have got a while to decide on bits like that.
  14. Next question. Whats this bit meant to be attached to? It it has a rubber seal that fits nicely over the trap outlet but the other end is a strange size 47mm ID 50mm OD. I thought it was to glue into my 50mm pipe but there is a lot of wiggle room
  15. I would line it. It’ll help keep the bugs away from the timber as well.
  16. Change of plan. The shower trap is easily rodable so I’m going to get rid of the other access on that run. Now I can use that y and another 45 to get up to the basin and allow access from there.
  17. It’s a pedestal at the moment so was hoping o could just rod from the trap but I’m not against hiding an access where I box between that and the bath. I should have have said I will be putting an angle on the rodding access near the stack so it points straight up for this exact reason. I just haven’t got the bend here to show it.
  18. Now for the tools ? obviously as I have no idea to stand half a chance I NEED all the gear. First job is coring out for the boss adaptor. I already own some hole saws and arbours but not the right size so I have treated myself to a nice new 14 piece quick change Bosch hole saw set (£88) now it would be far too easy if the kit had the only size I actually need so I had to buy a 60mm one separately but I didn’t find that out until the kit turned up ? next job job is to cut some 2” pipe. I already own a hacksaw and grinder but who uses that rubbish anymore. All 3 sizes of plastic pipe slices (£50) and they work a treat. now you you might think surely that is enough to get on with the job but you would be wrong. Even with the fantastic pipe slices I was ever so worried about nasty burrs on my pipe so I bought a nice debarred for (£8) so now I have all the gear and a forum. What could possibly go wrong ?
  19. Evening everyone we’re back to messing about with the bathroom. Before we get into all my new toys we had better get the technical stuff out of the way. The shower is a straight run now so plain sailing I hope. I will box off where the yellow hashing is when I pour the slab then screed it to a fall later on. I have angled back the access point so I can have a smaller boxing but I am happy with this bit unless someone tells me I shouldn’t be. Next bit is the bath and basin. Plan is to be in the concrete along the back wall behind the bath. I will angle the first T up and out of the concrete to take the bath waste. Then it will continue along into the corner where it will come up again to the T which will go above the concrete to the basin with the AAV above it (still behind the bath) after the T I was just planing for a bend going up to the basin or would it be better to put a rodding access here? Does anyone one have any issues with this so far? Otherwise I’m going to get the glue out ?. Im here all night so please ask as many questions as necessary
  20. you take that back. this is a mere breeze compared to the storm that is Rollo
  21. It seems I may be too late, but for others that may read this in the future, the main reasons the Makitas jam are as follows, -the whole front end isn't on fully, there is a little locating notch at the bottom so make sure it's on all the way, -the little metal bit at the front with the flappy bits has slipped up a little, push it back down and tape it there, -that same metal bit has broken a spring, -the plastic strip holding the screws is too big, depends on the brand but if they don't pull through freely try a different brand - the last, most common and my favourite, it's in reverse, make sure the driver bit is spinning the right way. I use the Makita and "rarely" have issues with it, a lot of my colleagues struggle with it but it's usually because of one of the above issues. when it jams they seem to just keep ramming it into the board making it a lot harder and slower to fix. FWIW I watched a gang of tackers using the Senco guns in the past and they did seem like good bits of kit HTH Ed
  22. I would do it as I have done with this one, panels in the dry then a Brick skin, (no maintenance on bricks and I think they look nice when laid well) I don't like blockwork, I don't like masonry hangers, I don't like B&B floors, I don't like the way bricklayers insulate, I don't like channels for cables, I don't like dot and Dab, I don't like fitting linings in masonry, I don't like cracks and I don't like how out of upright and level brickies leave everything. Other than that its each to their own and obviously that is just my opinion
  23. Do your best. They’ll caulk the rest. ?? probably best i stay out of this.
  24. I don't think my submission will help much but iv filled it in anyway also on the completion page you are missing the "m" on many.
  25. I need to go and have another look at the bath before i make any final decisions on the waste, (picked it up cheap a long time ago) I do like the look of the flip over style though,
