  1. not finding and meeting him is currently my biggest regret!
  2. He is/was one of my favourite role models. Fearless, modest and took a real interest in proper stuff. My dad got his box set years ago and ever since they are my go to entertainment if I’m really ill. Died at 66 from cancer. Stick that In your H&S pipe ?
  3. The quote was from affinity water ( the people that supply our water. ) I’m not sure why they haven’t planned to mole it. Possibly things to hit in the road but that is just speculation. One issue for me is that it is quite a major road.
  4. That's all I have got coming out of the house, ill ask some questions tomorrow,
  5. I just asked for a new connection, This is the cost advice they have come back with, I don't remember specifying pipe size
  6. only a couple of meters onto the verge at best, we own that side of the road as well. 3 day road closure
  7. from the sound of the quote they moled under the driveway, not under the road, I doubt I could get permission to mole under the road, I suppose I could ask them if they mole themselves but I could hazard a guess at what the answer would be. I need to go and check at the actual meter but after speaking to my dad tapping in doesnt seem like an option, there is a 32mm pipe going past my house but that is oversized to reduce drag for the sprayer tank, he did explain but it sounded very complicated, the actual feed that comes across the road for the farm is only 3/4 he suspects (will check after this coffee) Looks like I may have to pay them........
  8. that's pretty much how I hoped it would go from the beginning
  9. I assume this would all have to be added to the deeds? if so, How does one go about "adding things" to the deeds?
  10. that is good news, yes on the tank, when the form got a new "biodisk" about 6 years ago, we made sure it was big enough to take another dwelling. there is a 32mm pipe for the sprayer tank that runs along the side of my house, I know because i hit it , this is sounding very promising.
  11. Iv just been estimated nearly 7k because it looks like they have got to dig to the other side of the road the farm has got its connection right next to where they plan to dig. does anyone know a good way of "subletting" water? and also what sized pipe would I like to see on their side of the farm's meter to be able to cope with another house? survey drawing.pdf
  12. should 378 not be the top of the plasterboard? so 366 for the timber? possibly even top of adhesive so 362...ish???
  13. i dont understand, what part are you worried about decoupling from what part?
  14. he's like the rest of us, once you've proved the concept its time for the next project, finishing it is just to impress the people that come around
  15. i should add the spikes are only 150mm long, the mesh is 50mm up on the chairs so it should only sink into the top layer of 100mm insulation (140mm in total)
  16. yes they do pierce the green polythene, but that is only there to stop the concrete reacting with the foil on the insulation (supposedly) it's not the DPM, as Nick said the holes are pretty much filled by the peg but if a little does get by I'm not that worried.
  17. I will leave them at about 1.5 - 2 bar when I'm pouring, for the moment I have released all pressure and left the drain open, it's not meant to freeze any time soon but i wont be pouring for at least a week so no need to take the risk
  18. Well this is the start of the shower shuttering. I need to Cut a wooden brace across where the strap is and put more supports in but the corners are level and it’s in the right place. As for the pressure...... it’s gone up? I had left the hose connected which I have now taken off. So either that valve was letting by or it’s magic. Either way it’s not leaking
  19. Pipes are now sitting at 3.6 bar. I’ll update in an hour or so to see if anything has changed.
  20. But in answer to your question yes you should nog your joist. Wood moves, I don’t care how much you engineer it. I have never used any of these new fangled timbers, but I have used a LOT of wood. If the beams have real timber components ( top and bottom plate) do whatever you can to keep it in the right place.
  21. If you feel strongly about it, please bring it up with one of the admistrators. Preferably Ian, (the dirty bugger.)
  22. Or just keep it for the week and get the job done and pay the extra pittance on the weeks hire over the one day
  23. This place would soon fall into mayhem if I had access to such controls
  24. I enjoy making new customers squirm when it comes up. Keep a very stern face and go of on one that they think it’s fine to assume only men would work in such a place. I can only keep a straight face for so long but it is great to see how they react to it.
