Just dragging this old thread up cos the new drive will be going in in a matter of months and I haven't started yet. The developer who is doing the drive (which is actually a private road owned by him and serves 4 plots) has said that in terms of weight capacity, it won't take anything more than a transit. Now this surely can't be right as that would mean you could never get a removals truck or any sort of large item delivered. Surely there's got to be some sort of weight capacity on a private road - oh and even though the developer still owns the road, the maintenance is down to the home owners.

pro's & cons of different ICF systems

Have you looked into Polarwall? That's the supplier I'll be using and Alan has been one of the most helpful people I've come across -
And I can imagine the suppliers having a margin of allowable movement or something to get out of warranty claims
-
I'll double check the warranty on the mechanisms

I'm pretty sure Solarlux is one of the names that was mentioned to me as a quality bifolfd

So was the issue with bi folds, the brush seals?
-
Hi, I know there have been various posts about bi-fold doors and their airtightness issue but I still can't see a nicer solution for an opening I have of just over 3m. I visited my window supplier last week to have a chat about door options and he is happy to sell me any other door I'd want but said he's never had a good quality bi-fold they've installed come back with any issues. We looked at a large slider door but in his opinion, brushes would cause more issues over time with airtightness that rubber seals. So I wondered exactly what are the issues with bi-folds and has anyone had personal experience with them? I've wondered if stories of air leakage is down to cheaper units/mechanisms/hinges? Cheers Vijay

Congratulations, good to see backbone fighting the planners when you know you're right

The fact they have ignored you and your issue would bug the hell out of me!! Have you thought abouts small claims court?

Hi Roger, Was the insulation not up to what you wanted? Vijay

Nick, if you can't get an 18mm batten in, what are your options?
-
When would you use 150mm?

Hi, Is there any easy to use software that will allow me to get accurate dimensions off plans from either PDF or CAD files? Basically I want to highlight 2 points and get an accurate dimension. Cheers Vijay

I'm going to make a shed out of pallets.....

That looks nice and solid! -
I've wondered about this myself, how have people put the cables through the roof space if it's a well insulated room?
-
My opinion is based on what my mate bought and I helped him put it up. It was a £500 shed and it was an utter piece of flimsy crap. He paid extra for a floor that was made of 1" batten - what a joke!!! I would rather pay someone to make one from scratch than buy a ready made kit

What sort of prices are these Sunamps?

My pleasure, glad you're happy with him

Cheers Peter, gives me more to consider

By working floor I mean the beam and blocks will go down and that's it. I want to know the insulation I'll use in the future when I'm ready to put the UFH and screed down, so I can work out levels now. So if using EPS, would I use less than PIR and still get the same U value?
-
No, I'm going down the concrete block route as I need a working floor and I'm happy to lay the blocks myself anyway
-
And there's no issue with UFH/clips with EPS?
