  1. If I required fibres (which I presume is the reinforcment), it was £82.16 m3
  2. Why would I need reinforcing in trench footings? It's the SE who stated C30
  3. At least 65.5 m3
  4. Northampton
  5. You mean with the 5 year time frame? No point in putting any pressure on myself as it's just me and a dog Yep, and if looked after (as I will), hopefully make most if not all of my money back
  6. I wondered that too. I've got 2 small gennies for onsite and hoping they'll do me until I get connected
  7. This is a 5 year project for me so more than happy to leave them on site as they'll have paid for themselves easily
  8. An offer of a cuppa always goes far This is getting easier lol really glad I decided to buy a dumper and not hire
  9. 800??? there's 411 My mate will be with me when they arrive as he'll be on the digger. I can also call on another few mates to help - so that definitely seems the way to go
  10. Is it normally a lot more expensive for flowing concrete?
  11. I'm at £76 for standard C30 mass concrete or the BM who quoted to mix on site was just under £96 = both plus VAT
  12. Ah, one BM did mention mixing on site but I didn't think too much about it. I guess it would make sense so I'll look into that too. Just look at the BM quote who mentioned mixing on site - £20+VAT per m3 more than my cheapest quote
  13. This is the actual layout of the trenches (for all external, internal and sleeper walls). So would the concrete easily flow everywhere?????
  14. Not really, can only get along the front of the trench. That's why we planned to used the dumper which will get around everywhere
  15. I think I'm right in saying concrete companies charge you extra to remove an unused concrete that is ordered (so you pay twice). I'm sure I remember someone on Ebuild mentioning a use for any extra concrete they had. Anyone remember it or any suggestions? Cheers Vijay
  16. Cheers Russell. My plan is to start as soon as they do their first delivery. I believe I will have 8-9 concrete deliveries for the 65 odd m3 of concrete, The dumper is 2.5t so planning on 4 safe skips of concrete per delivery to empty the concrete truck. So I'm thinking of deliveries every 1/2 hour, then we'll have time for a break before doing the bars (while I keep testing cos my balls ain't big enough to risk it lol) There should be at least 4 of us (one on the dumper), so 3 tampering and then all 4 doing the L bars. Is a "tampering thingy" just a large T made out of wood, 600mm wide for the width of the foundations?
  17. I popped into one of my future neighbours house who has UFH. He pointed out a huge mistake in their kitchen where they planned to have fixed units, so didn't fit UFH. Yep you guess it, they didn't end up with the fixed unit and now they have an area in their large kitchen which doesn't heat up the same. I can't really get my head round leaving spaces out as surely the concrete will still heat up by sucking heat from the heated concrete? Is it not a better idea (albeitmore cost) to a layer of insulation on top of the floor where you don't want heat coming up - unless it's things that are completely fixed like kitchen islands, stairs, showers?
  18. I'm also gonna look at my digger and see how I can attach a hook for lifting
  19. 411 weigh 0.633, so 1.54kg each - perfectly doable by hand. How long would a driver wait for unloading though? I might even get them collected as they will be on a pallet which seems stupid to do by arctic. A smaller wagon with tail lift makes more sense. I've used Paisley freight before to ship a couple of engines and they load/unload as long as they are palleted
  20. One thing to remember is high fences also keeps the scum hidden. I fitted a Rhino post to my front drive years ago and it worked well. It's a simple key operated post that goes straight up and down - making it very easy to use. After reading this post, I'll be fitting one either on the new drive or in front of the garage. One thing to consider is having a dog. I've had a GSD for for years and they've all protected their home over the years It might also help your wife feel safer while you're away as they will hear anything and everything.
  21. lol I like your thinking Russell! It's a 3.2t Kubota. Got a 2.5t dumper too now so could throw them straight into that I guess
  22. Nope, as I said, new to the area and only know a few neighbours. I posted ages ago about forks for a digger and the general feeling was they are quite difficult to use. IIRC because they were in reverse and also quite jerky on a digger
  23. Well the company who quoted me the £95 was for the 411 L bars i need in the foundations. I've emailed them to find out if they are on pallets (which I assume they would be)
  24. I'll have a digger on site but if something is on pallets, how could I lift it? Will the digger arm even be high enough I'm totally new to the area so no idea who's who and who would own a telenhandler
  25. Evening, Having been quoted an extra £95 on top of a delivery charge to unload goods, I wondered how everyone unloads good when they arrive to site? Vijay
