I changed to a push fitting as Peter suggested, one of these in fact https://www.diy.com/departments/fluidmaster-red-chrome-effect-plastic-toilet-flapper-valve-complete-with-push-button-kit/211927_BQ.prd

Hi Terry, hope you're well. All my loft areas are rooms/future living space, so have been designed from the outset as that
-
It's not blinkers, just trying to work out what advantages web joists would have in this situation. Only intend on doing this once so might as well get it right
-
Most suppliers don't, only had 1 quote so far who do
-
Most suppliers don't do posi web joists to bob tail attic trusses, so that was the point of my post, trying to work out if it's worth the extra money for the suppliers who can accommodate web joists in the trusses
-
Don't think weight comes into it as they are part of the attic truss - I definitely can't list one of those!!! lol
-
Sorry, I should have made it clearer in my OP, I meant for the floor section of the attic truss.
-
Internal ICF wall is approx 6300, so overall span will be slightly larger than that as they are bob tail attic trusses. I'll be looking through the quotes a bit closer over the weekend, but wanted closer than 600 as I don't want much deflection. I didn't think about the roof windows.............

Started getting some quotes for the room in roof attic trusses for the single storey part of my build. I'm using metal web joists in my house, but it suddenly occurred to me is it pointless trying to use them in an attic truss? Only had 1 quote using web joists and it was over 3k more than the rest using normal timber joists (11 and 14K) Do web joists offer other advantages vs straight timber joists apart from being able to run services through them? I don't think I'll need to worry about that with attic trusses, as obviously I can run services around the outer part of the trusses (outside the habitable part). How do they compare with deflection? Cheers Vijay

are you looking to leave one on site or more portable to throw in the back of your car?

Where can you buy adjustable ICF bracing in the UK? Googled Zonts and couldn't find anything in the UK

Kubota KX91-3a

I'll have another look but didn't notice one. The solar panels work well but be good if there's an isolator for winter
-
isolator key?
-
Had this problem with my digger as I don't use it too often. I left a couple of 12v solar charger attached and it starts when I need now

To be fair the dutch gables are a planning thing and the other houses incorporated them too in initial designs. I just assumed the roof lights are good for room in roof height and fire escapes? I'd say the room heights are to give as much habitable room as I want the potential for a self contained flat one day if needed
-
lol why do you say that
-
Not asked the SE as they have been beyond useless. I would want to get a new SE if I went down the route of steels in the roof. Only one load bearing ICF wall which is the blue line. There are 2 other internal walls there but not load bearing
-
Sorry, just changed my location to Northampton as that's my site. So it would still be the roof supplier who designs it, as long as they sell you the timbers? I know Donaldsons can't do attic trusses with posi joist floors, waiting on Harlow to reply. Main roof will be attic trusses supplied by a one of the truss companies

Minimum cover depth for roof water drainage pipe?
Vijay replied to epsilonGreedy's topic in Rainwater, Guttering & SuDS
I had the same issue. On here it says 600 http://www.pavingexpert.com/drain02.htm my BCO wanted concrete over it but mine was on the front drive, so maybe different depending on pedestrian or vehicle traffic? -
Here's a simplified pic of the single storey roof. It joins the house on the right hand side. I do have 2 Dutch gables, so not sure how they would work to support a beam. Also I think the issue would be where the roof joins at an angle (the 30 odd degree one). Who would design a cut roof?

I have a set and used them plenty of times. I hate heights of any kind but never felt unsafe on the set I have if I'm being honest. Yeah sure they are more bendy than a normal set of ladders, but the great thing about them is ease of getting them through someone elses house, without much risk of scraping a wall. Yes they are not a replacement for a good set of ladders, but they are still very very handy and I have no regrets buying them

The price I looked at of £22 odd was for line rental and fast fibre. Call charges were PAYG. IIRC it was an 18 month contract
-
For good fast fibre internet, you can easily be paying less than half of what you're paying mate. Looked at this last week for a friend and with cashback, it was something like £22 a month

Does anyone know why suppliers don't seem to do attic trusses with Posi joists for the floors? I'm waiting on the Wolf system suppliers to get back to me as they may be the only ones who do
