  1. And they are great people to deal with, I bought a load from them
  2. Thank you. The only way around it otherwise is to spend another £1500 odd on more scaffold which I obviously don't want to do unless I absolutely have to
  3. sorry to bring back this thread but need to check something I may have cocked up on Forgetting the fact it's more difficult to get boards up, is a 2.5m lift (so 5 pegs) too much between transoms/ledgers? The lifts on top of that will be 2 x 2m/4 pegs. Is that safe?
  4. I had to throw the big heavy AC unit on last night just to cool the dog down and I wondered if it was possible to include an AC unit into a MVHR system. So the intake air is cooled down and spread to different rooms?
  5. My ICF supplier (Polarwall) ended up speaking to the SE where they then said they went overboard with the rebar and IIRC, 400mm straight bar was fine. Made life easier getting them in, but my mate who was installing them did comment that it was getting harder as the concrete went off - quick whack with a club hammer got them in fine though
  6. Is that the same sort of stuff used in Wet and forget? https://www.wetandforget.co.uk/
  7. where abouts in the country are you? Scaffold towers are pretty cheap to buy or why not rent for a weekend if that gives you safe access
  8. 60mm boards for toe boards is surely overkill?? I'd have thought being able to use normal scaffold boards would have been perfectly adequate and cheaper? No I haven't got any clips as I don't have toe boards and I already blew the scaffold budget lol
  9. expensive way of doing toe boards though isn't it, using full thickness boards
  10. so the gap is meant for a toe board/full plank? may have to get a few more boards then
  11. lol ok ok, you were right Starts off ok but lifting boards up onto the transoms gets to you after a while lol I'm still happy I've decided to go with Kwikstage though The gap with the yellow arrows. It shows it on the outside there but the problem is with the boards that run parallel with the return transom. The gap that is yellow arrowed, is where the blue arrows are. I wish I had a clearer pic
  12. Got 18 bays up this week and just wondered about the 7cm gap left on the boards. Am I right in saying that's there for fitting a board as a toe board, or would the toe board normally sit on top of the floor?
  13. At least I now know my SE isn't the only crap one out there lol I've been dealing with his mistakes for the last 5 months and always does my head in when he sends revised plans which still have such obvious mistakes. I would honestly say it's been the worst part of my self build
  14. Just looked at fence/shed treatment and it's fairly cheap (1l does 6m2). Thinking it wouldn't take long to go over the boards with a standard soft floor brush
  15. I'm all for a bit of hard work, but I completely agree
  16. I'd rotated it in windows (which then showed it the correct way around), but when uploaded, it changed it back Would it be wroth screwing a piece of batten underneath to stop it from twisting and possibly pull it back in? One supplier told me to keep throwing water over the boards
  17. So would no one bother treating them?
  18. What you talking about, it'll be neat and tide lol
  19. But Russell's sounds quite bad, a dangerous trip hazard
  20. when stored or on the scaffold??
  21. stacked, they'll be up on the scaffold lol
  22. New boards on site today and wondered if I should treat them with some cheapo fence protector or something like that? Chances are these boards will be out for 2+ years and would ideally like everything to stay as sellable as possible
  23. I do hope that's the case but I do wonder what sort of prices replacement batteries will be when they need doing?
  24. Did anyone watch the Top Gear thing where they messed with making electric cars the other week? The worrying thing that stuck in my mind was the Nissan Leaf that was 8 years old and could only do 35 miles on a full charge, so was ready for scrap. What is the future for electric car owners when batteries start failing and you get a hefty bill for replacement batteries or have to purchase a new car. Also how good for the environment is recycling batteries and manufacturing so many new ones?
  25. Thanks everyone. I'm baffled why the S.E has ignored it as I've already pointed it out to him.
