  1. Hmm tradesmen ‘booked in’ is probably your biggest risk ?. I would concentrate on the jobs needed to give you somewhere to wash and sit / sleep as a priority, even if it’s only the bedroom finished initially. You can work wonders with just a microwave if all else fails ?.
  2. Hoping that the rest goes smoothly so that you can move in, worst case that you get a couple of rooms finished that will enable that to happen.

    Guttering

Looking amazing. Hope the weather is kind to you for the next stage.
  4. Do you have night vision CCTV you could point down to the bottom of the walls somehow? And maybe put some bait traps out.
  5. They are more likely still getting in somehow I imagine.
  6. Hmm, I see what he means. Pity he didn't say something before it was laid mind! What is the state of the pavement along the rest of the road? If it's all flat and decent then you may have to do something I guess, although didn't you say that the pavement was covered by a bush or something before, thus meaning there was no pavement there at all? It wouldn't bother me walking on that personally but it depends how much the neighbours are likely to kick off I imagine. It's not like anyone will be used to walking on the pavement along that stretch anyway if there was a bush covering it before. I would probably leave it and decide if something needs doing later, although the planter idea might be a good one if it can create an illusion of the ground being less sloping.
  7. Hmm, I'm thinking my wired system may be preferable now .... You may as well wait until tomorrow in case the clock change messes it all up again!
  8. Affected by the fire you had? Still some gunk in the ducting causing that?
  9. And another pretty relevant one . Have a read and then maybe start a thread in the kitchen appliances forum. You are more likely to get some more relevant replies there as some people only really read the forums that they are mostly interested in. Here's the link to start a new post: https://forum.buildhub.org.uk/forum/46-kitchen-household-appliances/?do=add
  10. Welcome! I'm not sure if you've found these threads that discuss extractors so I'll put the links here just in case. There are other threads too if you do a search. I don't have a hob in my island so have a different extractor, but I do have an induction hob. I never thought I would prefer electric to gas but induction is a gamechanger IMO. I doubt I would want to go back to gas again even if I lived in an area where mains gas was an option. It's sleek looking and instantly controllable; the 2 best bits about electric and gas in a single package IMO.
  11. In fairness the touchscreen controller is pretty good when it's working too. I just have to touch the screen to set what I want in any of the zones. It's 8 years old so in fairness it was pretty modern in its day as it is only fairly recently that everything is controlled by an app. The reality is that I don't really change things much either once it's set to the times and temps that I want.
  12. Is there not a tool in that set to fix that? ??
  13. Minimum bloody price here already ...
  14. Thanks @vivienz that will do for the many ? occasions I have to drive these days.
  15. At least your first name isn’t Frank ?
  16. @PeterW what say you?
  17. Wine would be my choice too. A bottle of red and a bottle of white, or just one depending on how much you want to spend.
  18. Thanks. I'm not that fussed about it being fixed properly as long as the stat settings are maintained properly TBH. It's the date / time change causing random things to happen to the heating that is more of an issue for me. I don't want it turning on at random times of the day because it thinks the time is different, in particular when I set it to holiday when I will want it switched off for the duration until the day before I return home. I will have to monitor the clock times I guess and assume that if the date and time stay constant then at least that bit is fixed. I also assume that I will need to manually change the clock this weekend ...
  19. Yours may come under the category of 'paid extra for high security locking' then. Maybe it's some of the cheaper doors of this type that don't have as many multi point locks? Not sure. As I say it was just something I was told. That sounds awful for your friend. Sadly I think if they want to get in they will ?
  20. Never turn down the opportunity of a trip away talking geeko stuff with like minded individuals
  21. Sounds like some on here know more than some of their resellers already ... Should get a BuildHub course in plan
  22. Do you have to pay? Is that the course @Nickfromwales just went on?
  23. I know the feeling . Sometimes it all sounds so simple until you try it too!
  24. She won’t need the water as hot if she’s hot and bothered. Thought you would have sussed that one ?? And @Onoff regardless of a gauge on the wall everyone will still use their hand to check the temperate before getting in. You’d be better off working out how long it takes to reach temperature and sounding a buzzer after x seconds. @ProDave could add a second buzzer to his shower that indicates ‘get out now or I’m switching the hot water off’ ?.
  25. This mght be rubbish but I was told that the locking mechanism wasn't as secure with these vertical type handles (compared to the normal handle type) unless you spent ££ upgrading the locking mechanism?
