Nothing helps mine (just one is fecked). In desperation I tried every quack remedy under the sun but nothing works and the arthroscopy seemed to make it worse. I had a ton of physio but they can only help strengthen around the knee to hold things together better but it can’t fix the knee. I can kneel on one knee sort of. If I try to kneel on the bad one it doesn’t end well. I’m with @Alphonsox in that all you can do is protect it. Making it worse by kneeling on it is not a good plan either short or long term.

4.5 hours to get home from work. Very grim. All trains out of Edinburgh cancelled, overhead lines are down, so ended up getting a bus and begging the bus driver to let more on when he said he was full. He let 5 more on. I was number 3 of 5 so very lucky as there were about another 30 left in the queue and at least an hour to wait. Stood all the way but glad to be home eventually. Some of the masonry from Top Shop on Princes Street blew off and police and paramedics were attending as I walked past. Several trees had blown down and onto cars. Several vans and lorries had blown over on the A1. It's windy but it's the gusts that take you off your feet. 90mph apparently. Got home to both wheelie bins having upturned (put a stack of bricks on them this am but to no avail). Rubbish everywhere but that will be a job for tomorrow. One of next door's large trees has several branches missing and looks the worse for wear. Most definitely working from home tomorrow! Stay safe anyone still out in it!

Think I shouldn’t have walked through Princes Street Gardens ? Only these 3 trains on the board (delayed). Everything else is cancelled! ?
-
Power is out at home apparently. Right, I’m stoppIng off to stockpile milk and bread on the way home ?
-
Some woman has died in Ireland as her caravan was blown off a cliff ?. Not too awful in Edinburgh yet just ‘fairly windy’ but all the trains are stopping so will make a dash for home soon.

Yep, and any cloths etc used during the removal. It’s such a dangerous substance if you are susceptible to it I wouldn’t do it myself for any money. More people are now dying of cancer caused by asbestos in the UK than are killed on our roads and many younger people are being diagnosed, some of them children sadly.

Not sure about the travelling aspect but I find that any heat losses from the hot water tank in my house directly contribute to the temperature of the house so it’s not wasted. Depends what system you have but I would definitely notice the difference if my thermal store was outside somewhere.

You may qualify for 0% VAT if you tick the right boxes.
-
Welcome! Not specifically about Cornwall but have you checked if you qualify for the VAT reclaim scheme? The rules can be complex, especially for a conversion so best to check if you tick all the boxes (or not) from the outset as that may determine how you source your materials etc. There is a post here to read up on it but you must check the restrictions in your planning permission as that can affect whether you qualify or not.

Lol now you really have turned into @Onoff ?. It’s done. You can only look forward ? -
That bit yes but the home, away, summer, temp hold, holiday stuff etc learnt by trial and error and fiddling round with the settings. That touchscreen thing is pretty good TBH. Saves wandering round having to check and set 14 zones separately, and for seeing what the temp is like across the whole house. The newer installations will all be controlled by an app of course but that’s like the Mach 1 version of an app in a wall box lol. Just need to work out how to change the battery now before I switch the heating back on.
-
Also a miracle that I know how to work them now!

Ha ha, you and @Onoff make a good pair ? You should aim to get it all done before the weather changes completely though if the room is cold and damp. -
Don’t have experience but very conscious of the risks. Is there a way that you could cover over the tiles too without removing them? You’ll need to follow H&S guidelines for removal of waste so covering over may be easier and safer if possible.

Nooo! Stop beating yourself, you are doing great. Self flagellation is not helpful! Look forward, not back!

So my stat settings (room is 20 degrees at the mo with no heating having been on for months so don’t need it on yet). Temps and times still set as before however. These are the temp settings for weekdays, so 20 degrees at 5.30 Then from 7am it will only come on again if it drops below 18 At 17.00 it pushes back up to 20 degrees ready for my return home Then drops back to 18 at 22.00 for overnight
-
It sounds like it was heating ok earlier in the year, albeit when it was boiling hot. Do you remember what you did to stop it working? Was it just resetting the stats or something else? Or did the builders switch it off? When you are setting the stat to 28 degrees are you using the app or the stat? Is the flame coming on (and staying on) the room stat whilst it's set to 28 degrees? Can you take pics of what you are doing to set the stat and the settings it has? So temps for the high / low periods for example. Mine has 4 time periods on a 5 / 2 week / weekend basis. During those times it goes from a higher back to a lower temperature etc. Is yours like that? My system is older but I imagine yours will be similar? Mine will set all the way up to 35 degrees. Could you try putting the stat to max?

What does building control want to sign it off? Surely that’s one of the main considerations?

And being competent means naff all if they won’t come back and fix stuff!
-
I’m sure yours won’t be as sick as mine. Call Robbens and ask them for advice re their system as their suggested installer won’t get in touch.
-
Blimey Lizzie yours is sounding like mine! Hot pipes to manifold with everything on frost setting, then no heat making it to the rooms when they called for heat. How did you get the installer? Via Robbens? If so complain through them?

What are you doing with the cills? Putting whatever was on before back? It was something black IIRC? What was that made of? So choices are maybe ... Find something to match the cills Find a laminate upstand strip that will match the colour of the worktops. ‘Wood effect’ Use tiles. Mosaics like @Ferdinand suggested or a larger format tiles cut down Use the same wood as the worktop. Pros and cons with each. As far as the water collecting is concerned for the time I would use a super absorbent cloth on the draining board. Then take off and dry once dishes drained etc. Water collecting on draining board is not unusual tbh. -
Immersion?

Welcome! We are all very curious about other people's builds so it would be great if you could post some plans of what you intend to build. I think @PeterStarck used the Genvex 185 in his build.
