Where is the kWh price heading in 2022?
SteamyTea replied to epsilonGreedy's topic in General Self Build & DIY Discussion
Most petrol stations have not been able to cover costs by selling fuel alone. Why they are generally small supermarkets, with much higher prices. When we had two petrol stations, we were paid a subsidy from the distillery (Shell in our case) to support running costs. To put it bluntly, it don't really matter if the subsidy is passed on or not, without it many petrol stations would close. -
Thanks.

Only if you want to be. https://www.wikihow.com/Stop-Being-a-Victim So best to use the correct terminology. -

Welcome @Garald is near Paris.

Generally alright if prepped correctly. While expandion differential is possible, I have never noticed it in practice. GRP is 25x10-6m.m-1.K-1 Aluminium 21 to 24x10-6m.m-1.K-1 Steal 11 to 13x10-6m.m-1.K-1 All very small movements over a few metres and if bonded to each other, tend to take the median value.

Yes. 57.86p/day standing charge. £211.19/year. To help bail out all those skinflints that swapped supplier to get a good deal. A good deal that I am paying for.

What make is that, do you have a link. Trying to make my annual bill zero, used under 2 MWh so far this year.

Perspex is acrylc, so, in its natural formulation, will stay clear. There are two main types of acrylic sheet, cast or extruded. Avoid extruded. You can get flexiable acrylic sheet, which offers better shock resistance, but I have no idea what the long term exposure to UV is like, it has nano particles of rubber in it.

This is what I use on my immersion heater, and my storage heaters. Bought them in 2013, not had a problem. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0066NEBO6

Say no, end off. The predecessor of Buildhub was shut down because one member was using pictures of another members house in his marketing material, it all got very messy legally and morally. And a quick internet search shows that a picture of the house, that was not built by the company, is still up.

Is this the chemical reaction that stores energy, at room temperature, when it absorbs water, then releases it when it is dried, with a relatively small amount of energy input. People were pissing thier panties in anticipationa decade ago. Probably why we all have a small box of zeolite mineral in the useful draw to heat the house. https://www.extremetech.com/extreme/130523-zeolite-thermal-storage-retains-heat-indefinitely-absorbs-four-times-more-heat-than-water

https://plasticsheetsshop.co.uk/product/clear-acrylic-gs-sheet-30mm/ Then laminate some plate glass to it with UV curing adhesive. If you just want light to come though, you could get a clear GRP sheet made up. Get the right resin and mat and it will look alright.

Posh flats in PZ have plank decking. Rain filters though the cracks in them, then drips for hours after a short shower. I am not a drainage engineer, but I would look at an imperable base and some sort of conceled guttering and drainage. I am also not a house designer, but often I see balconies with walls on them, so when sitting in a chair you cannot see over them. So glass, which I think looks really naff and passersby can look up your kilt.

Do you know your day usage percentage. Reading the meter will tell you, but only over the life of that meter. I currently use about 70% during the night, but I only use 68p/days worth. That is a mean (summer) price of 23p/kWh. Come winter, when I use 15 kWh/day, but 85% at night, leaving ~2 kWh/day at the 28p rate, that gives a mean value of 21p/kWh.

Scientific sizing of a buffer tank

There was a report about buffers, was not posted up by me. But I think I downloaded it. hot_water_cylinders_buffer_tanks_heat_pumps.pdf -
Scientific sizing of a buffer tank
SteamyTea replied to JamesPa's topic in Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP)
To be more scientific, the thermal losses from the buffer have to be taken into account. These losses may be useful i.e. heat the house, or they may not i.e. overheat a section of the house. My fridge, which is just a heat pump, comes on for about 10 minutes every house. Been reliable so far.
