  1. Some of the Varilight range looks quite minimalist as does Hager and Schneider - all do neat round button switches. If it's freaky sh!t then have a look at Lithoss from Belgium...mental! You'll be wishing you fitted good old MK when it comes to replacing the odd one a few years down the line!

  3. I can't help you with your main question, but the planning department doesn't pay any heed to covenants. In this case, they'll be for the future purchasers to worry about!

  4. It might be that you need to move the batten down, but if not, I wouldn't worry about it, remember that every tile for the first two rows (and then every 5th) row needs to be nailed. If need be use slightly longer nails

  5. The 39mm Knauf DIY Maxi Screws put in with the Makita and sunk just under flush into a test piece of Aquapanel - no pilot:

  6. Just a heads up on the green pb, British Gypsum actually advise not to skim the board when tiling an area. From memory the rating almost doubles in regard to how much weight of tile the board can carry when it is not plastered as you get better adhesion of the tile adhesive direct to the board, particularly useful if you are using a stone tile or large format porcelain. Plus you save on money not plastering the area also .

  8. Tbh, porcelain is porcelain. The gubbings inside the cistern can be completely changed from as little as £30 ( fluid master replacement kit inc flush / button / fill valve ) so I'd just buy the shape / style you want / can afford. My only advice is to make sure you get stainless through bolts, to connect the cistern to the pan, and likewise with the seat hinges. I cant really say I've seen a cheap / bad bog before, but plenty where they've been supplied with cheap / disgracefully bad gubbings which have come with perfectly acceptable chinaware. Any links ?

  9. Try Le Grand. When we did a sharp modern renovation on a Studio Bungalow in approx 2011-12 the architect specified them on the basis that they covered everything. Stylish and have innovative options. A huge range so you will need to take time. https://www.legrand.co.uk/projects/residential/ https://www.legrand.co.uk/products/wiring-devices/wiring-accessories/ http://blog.yaleappliance.com/bid/88824/The-10-Best-Legrand-Adorne-Wall-Switches-Dimmers-Prices-Reviews Ferdinand

  10. I was taught woodwork at school when there was none of this new fangled self cutting stuff screw wise. Everything had a plain shank which required a clearance hole. Slotted was the norm and a Phillips head was considered exotic. Always wary of "needs no pilot".

  11. Dee, just put a batten to give the kick. Your fascia will have to be nailed to the rafters. Peter, you can but since I wanted wood behind our plastic fascia I killed two jobs in one. Even the thick plastic fascia isnt that strong. I always use deepflow gutters, bit more cash but no more extra work.
