  1. Good so far. MBC have got the frame up at lighting speed. Roofing starts on Monday and glazing arrives on the 12th. All going well we will have a wind and watertight house by Christmas. Then the fun begins.

  2. @Grosey - pretty sure this is the light oak - we ordered a single board and put what we could up.

  3. Why should this be moved to boffins corner, I am very interested in this thread as it WILL effect the design of my heating system. Yes I understand that I may not understand all the technicalities but I will understand the outcomes. I do understand that some may disagree with others, that's life. Keep it coming chaps.

  4. Looks fantastic. Utterly impractical for us - would be covered in small hand prints within 5 minutes!

  7. I suspect the "heat exchange coil too small" was just the installer pushing this cylinder with a plate heat exchanger. Personally like you I would prefer s simple cylinder with a large area heat input coil as it makes a very much simpler system, and almost certainly one that's easier to put together as a system yourself. I am not sold on this weather compensation stuff. I would try and turn that off, or set the curve flat. The house heating controls should take care of putting more heat in when it's colder.

  10. Pretty much all sorted, yes. We ended up working around the beam issues which, had I known beforehand that it would have taken so long, I would have ordered a new beam. Partly I wasn't that confident with the steel company and was 50% sure a new one would have been just as bad. The guys are due to leave site tomorrow, I understand. Roof to be slated the week after next I think and windows due w/c 12th Dec. Apparently the windows will take around 2 weeks but hopefully they'll be done for Christmas so then I can crack on with the MVHR over the holiday period
