Note that the Screwfix blurb says it can only be used with copper pipe BUT check out the single review .... a self builder has commented that he has bought this item and that it can be used with push-fit plastic

i can confirm both plastic and copper are fine, i have both. Its just a speedfit connection. Copper where i needed to add in compression checks (then converted to plastic underneath) and plastic where i just wanted to keep an unbroken run to point B. Dont have any great photos, but you can just see it here on the right hand side

The Screwfix blurb is wrong. The 15mm versions use JG Speedfit connections and the Reliance website states these versions are "suitable for use with Speedfit PEX and polybutylene barrier pipe [inserts required] and copper pipe" - see https://www.reliancevalves.com/gb/en/products/flow-control/plumbing-strainers-flow-regulators-manifolds/potable-water-manifolds

They certainly do. I used these several years ago and only used Speedfit connectors.

So... Inspired by this thread I bought the reliance manifolds from Screwfix. I just laid the 5 feeds to each bathroom. Tomorrow I'm going to connect them to manifold. I have 5 hot and 9 cold (including kitchen sink and kitchen appliances).

 

The pipe I bought was the hep20, and to be honest I presumed the reliance manifolds would be fit for anything, but as per above when the box came it says John Guest on it. Which has made me nervous but 15mm barrier pipe is 15mm barrier right?

 

@Nickfromwales kindly suggested 15mm copper tails to separate manufacturers, but I am minded to only do this where I'm stepping from 15-10mm. Has anyone above uses hep20 with it and it was ok?

 

Next q. When mounting manifold I have a tall wall and I'm wondering if I can mount manifold ala ufh manifold ie the hot sits proud in front of the cold. It would save me some horizontal space and also save pipes crossing each other as they come up from the slab. Fingers crossed.

I did Copper tails out of manifold to into hep couplers and 10mm sockets here.

 

You can buy brackets like they use for UFH manifolds, cant see why this wouldn't work.

The consensus is that they are compatible, provided you use the correct pipe inserts. The official responses are below.

 

The official response from Wavin... "Are Hep2O fittings compatible with the JG Speedfit system pipework? We cannot guarantee that all push-fit plumbing brands are made to the same standards for the internal diameter, so we cannot say that Hep2O  fittings are compatible with JG Speedfit pipework. We always recommend that you to use Hep2O push-fit plumbing pipe with Hep2O fittings."

 

And the official response from John Guest... "Are JG Speedfit fittings compatible with the Hep2O system pipework? Yes, as long as the correct manufacturer's pipe insert is used. However, JG Speedfit fittings are designed and tested to be compatible with JG Speedfit pipe. JG Speedfit cannot guarantee the specification of other manufacturers' pipe therefore mixing JG Speedfit with Hep2O is not advised."

Just use a bit of copper to divorce them. Simples!

I was looking at this recently too. If you need to put copper in between then another adapter it adds a lot to the cost. Might as well buy the Hep2o official ones.

 

Have also been looking at these then buy an adaptor for the size you need.

Nope. I think the OP got shafted so is trying to navigate a way through with a mixture of manufacturers.
