Came home last night to find an assortment of wooden chests of draws etc on the patio.

Turns out a neighbour is exchanging contracts on his parents old house and "everything must go". 5 acre plot with loads of overgrown and hidden, big sheds. Apparently they found a CARAVAN there yesterday.....which it appears we're having! ?

According to SWMBO "it's a bit rotten"..."something to do with a skylight that I could fix with CT1".

My life just gets better.

You could move into the caravan while you finish the bathroom... en-suite....  boiler cupboard...... heating .... UFH........ roof......

On the upside it may be warmer than the house ..??

? It seriously crossed my mind! I suggested last night we use the caravan to store the THREE freebie leather and one freebie corduroy sofas she saw fit to give a good home too when they were being chucked by friends. Currently stored on end in the downstairs bedroom where there's probably 1m2 of floor space left.

A cunning plan is forming.....make the caravan watertight and store all the tat in the stairs room there so I can dig that up!

She also has fallen in love with an Inglenook walk in fireplace on the property. Not in the main house but one of the outbuildings that was they think to be turned into a school years ago. Shed loads (literally) of old furniture there too. I'm hoping for a look see later maybe. Time capsule it sounds like. The Repair Shop and that Drew fella would be in heaven. Pics to follow!

If you put solar panels on the roof of the caravan you could put the hot tub inside and it’s a mobile love making shack for weekend escapes.

As soon as @pocster can trvel it's a plan! ?

A single house on a 5 acre plot.

Surely SOMEONE has thought of the development potential?

You can finally get to do your self build Clive, right next door?

My house, I have half an acre with the house pretty much slap bang in the centre. Years back the (my) house had 5 acres (as did all the houses down here). At one time, in the dim and distant my (then 5 acre) plot allegedly had pp for 12 dwellings that was never taken up and has long lapsed. Back then it was under a different district council etc.

Development potential here, not a chance. You can get knock down and rebuild. Best you get is 50% on an previously unextended property. You might get an annexe if you're lucky. AONB etc.

I think someone the opposite side of the valley managed to extend massively by cutting into the hillside and going semi underground. I imagine though they're not in the £7/m2 tile bracket like I am though!

Well... told SWMBO I don't want it and am not interested in working on it or spending any money on it!

All that aluminium to make flat plate solar collectors and UFH spreader plates from.

But, as it is not an Avondale, not worth it.

(I was the production manager at Avondale, terrible place that relied on workplace bullying as a motivational tool, I walked out)

Or is she planning on moving in there?

All the roofs of the various buildings are caved in / rotted through.

She's already brought these back:
