canalsiderenovation Posted January 1, 2021 Posted January 1, 2021 We are compiling a very long list of snags for our builder. We got in for Xmas but there are so many things still to sort .... First off, I think this is linked to our waste water as it's at the opposite end of the house to our septic tank but I'm sure that it should firstly have some form of top, secondly that piping looks a mess to me as well and I'm not even sure it's the right piping. Anyone know...
Onoff Posted January 1, 2021 Posted January 1, 2021 I'd expect a plastic lid to be kicking around either ground or square on these lines:

Is that piping correct? Not seen anything like that. Is that water flowing out over the top of the brown pipe? What's a blue mdpe water pipe doing connecting to a drain pipe? Ask them to explain exactly what that is, and then to finish it.
TonyT Posted January 1, 2021 Posted January 1, 2021 It’s a bodge brat get them out to rip it out and start again, otherwise when they are long gone. Will cause you problems to rectify and pay a second time for a decent job
Mr Punter Posted January 1, 2021 Posted January 1, 2021 It looks like a temporary setup. You need to make sure the permanent replacement is correctly specified and installed.

It's a long list.....
canalsiderenovation Posted January 1, 2021 Author Posted January 1, 2021 Ok we are a little confused as although the initial picture has water flowing from the blue pipe we don't know where it is coming from and having tried all taps, showers etc in the house that doesn't seem to have any impact.

ASHP drain? Is that the ASHP alongside the house?
Onoff Posted January 1, 2021 Posted January 1, 2021 Could it be... The brown soil pipe is waste coming from the house. It goes down in that chamber then onto the septic tank. The blue comes in (from the ASHP?) and should really drain into the brown but stops short. The black chamber is just for access. Pure speculation.

Pure speculation. That first picture appears to have a fair bit of flow coming out of the blue pipe? More than you would expect to come from ASHP condensate? God alone knows what is going on with this?♂️
SuperJohnG Posted January 1, 2021 Posted January 1, 2021 Yeah thats a lot of flow by the looks of it. I assume its not constantly flowing?

Nope infact today we spent quite a while trying to get it to flow with no success and neither of us know what was making it flow yesterday.
canalsiderenovation Posted January 1, 2021 Author Posted January 1, 2021 Here was a video my other half took yesterday. VID-20201231-WA0008.mp4
Mr Punter Posted January 1, 2021 Posted January 1, 2021 Is it pumped from somewhere? Overflow from a soakaway or a well? All will be revealed when the builder returns...
PeterW Posted January 1, 2021 Posted January 1, 2021 I think it may be the pumped outflow from the sewage treatment plant , the brown will be the start of the leach field. 2

I was thinking that. But had thought this was going to the sewage treatment plant. That would make sense (and could be the only logical answer!) That ita a pumped tank.

The septic tank/sewage treatment plant is further up and is just before that connifer in the distance and is pumped.
Gus Potter Posted January 1, 2021 Posted January 1, 2021 Hats off to all. Great "Columbo" work. Here is my go. Could it be the sampling chamber before all discharges in to the "Canal"

They were not impressed and categorically would not give permission to discharge into the Llangollen!
