  1. We might yet go slate, any brand to look out for?
  2. Getting some quotes of a renewables guy and he said a company called Fisher do them? He raved about them.
  3. Hi, we are swapping from a standing seam roof because the budget is under pressure. I have been told to use tile and that good ones don't discolour. That slate is WAY more expensive and you need nearly twice as many. If thats the case, what tiles do you recommend? Then I can chase down the best price.
  4. Conor, have you any recommendation for MVHR design, supply and fit in NI ? Can you get parts ok?
  5. Did you have any beams to go through? Where did you get the design? Are parts reasonable?
  6. Will Titon give us a design? Thinking of fitting it ourselves with an electrician friend.
  7. What sq footage is your home? We are around 2000 sq ft and we need to sort this out. Have you checked out prices for spares for it? Good point about Nuaire.
  8. Thanks all, ok with the price of the posi joists now and steels arriving wednesday so will continue as planned.
  9. Yep have handed it over to architect and excellent joiner to check. The way they have designed their quotes differ because of the design and systems. The cheapest was posi joists, the most expensive was space joists. Also in this whole journey so far wild differences in prices for the same things has been happening. It doesn't surprise me because at the supermarkets the same thing is happening.
  10. Somehow I found a missing quote on my email for the posi joists and posi rafters from Haldane Fisher for £3827 which is a lot less than the others (some double).
  11. Thinking now if the walls underneath are supporting perhaps we could rest ecojoists on them and get 2 instead of one for each width? There is still a section that definitely has no walls which is 6.5m long so maybe a steel beam there?
  12. I think we would still have it but could see the roof trusses. I got the impression they would carry part of the load from the floor.
  13. Trying to save £. We are getting told if we change to roof trusses we won't have to use ecoojoists and make a big saving. Would it be possible to use an i joist (even with a steel) instead and leave roof as planned?
  14. yep got them ordered last week, should be here by tuesday but using the ancon 325 in the meantime.
  15. Brickie just messaged me, he was talking to a mate who is working in Dublin and they are all using hessian rolls to keep the cavities clean. We tried asbestos board/reis yesterday it was a bit crap.
  16. Thanks so much, we got them! Ouch , eye watering price but hey ho, we want to get it done right.
  17. This will be the main loo for downstairs so I need to keep the door in from the hall. I just would love there to be a sliding door from the bedroom. Is that mad? Like the blockwork could be going up there tomorrow...it just bugs me.
  18. Hi, so we are going up with block and a 200mm cavity. We are obviously intent on keeping the cavities clean. Any tips? I read this thread, will it work on ours? (We tidy, clean snots and take pics, 🐕 brought dog which is very confused where our old home went)
  19. "Unfortunately the integrated panels can't be installed on a trocal roof. It is only for concrete roof tiles or slate.. it's to do with the plastic trays that the panels sit in. However you can do an on-roof system.. "
  20. Help (wee voice). So we were supposed to be having the brickies back tomorrow but I am thinking of putting them off because I don't think we have enough stuff. We have the slab poured and next stage is mannock bricks and dpm. So attached is the Typical Jam Detail and Typical Head detail. 1)When will I need the Pro Clima Tescon Varna tape? At what stage? 2)Is there an equivalent performing substitute that is a better price? 3)What width & length ishould I order? (I was going to order 50 rolls but don't know which). I have read where you order from Germany and will do that. 4)Can I order roof membrane the same way to make a saving, will rooofers allow me to supply the membrane? Input gratefully received!!
  21. I will be getting it erected properly and inspected every week with a ticket issued. Its just we will own the scaffold so the price is reduced.
