  1. Conor, are you happy with it? Which one did you get?
  2. Hmmm, a bit concerned. The mvhr guy visited and was slightly shocked at how high the ceiling was (new build, vaulted, don't ask, hindsight is fecking wonderful). He said he could put the vents into the walls as high as he could. However, if heat rises, should it not be at the highest point?
  3. So ventilation guy said loads think ashp are sh*t , expensive to run and cost a fortune to service. He said get a wee oil burner for a fraction of cost.
  4. Thanks, right so we have some time then! Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately we need non standard height Set 1 is Ground Floor - First Floor: 15 No. Risers at 199.4mm 14 No. Goings at 220mm Total Rise = 2991mm Pitch = 42 degrees Set 2 is Staircase to comply with Technical Booklet H (2012). Stair to have clear width of 800mm and be fitted with handrail at a height of 900mm above pitch line above stair. See General Notes. Ground Floor - First Floor: 15 No. Risers at 199.4mm 14 No. Goings at 250mm Total Rise = 2991mm Pitch = 39 degrees I know its a bit odd but frankly it gives our grown up kids a separate area and access
  5. So thinking we need to order the 2 staircases. What is the most price effective wood that is decent? We would love walnut but presumably that is eye watering in terms of cost Also at what stage do they go in? Is it when you are watertight? Baskill will have our windows and doors installed 2nd week April.
  6. Should it not be warm enough? Like my son lives in a passive house and they use the heating max twice a year. I keep reading of huge electric bills for ashp and that you can't turn them off. So why should I do it? Have we just been conditioned into thinking we need it?
  7. Hello, so going with three velux windows and budget getting tight so how does this sound? Home is new build and passive with a ventilation system because it's passive. Window 1 on a stairwell that won't be used much so triple glazed. Centrally hung and would like to use a pole to clean it twice a. year lol but how long can a pole extend or should we just make it electric ? Window 2 in a bathroom, again triple glazed, centrally hung and electric. Window 3 dressing room, again centrally hung but what about not electric? The windows need to be mk04 980 x 780 according to architect spec. Any thoughts?
  8. https://www.idealhome.co.uk/house-manual/home-energy/aira-heat-pump It's time for us to get a heat pump and money is getting stretched. Noticed this, what do you think? Quality wise first.
  9. Thankyou. The version we have is slightly smaller so only has one tap in the middle. Bramco does the top drawer pull out ok?
  10. Thinking a ceramic sink might be less hassle though the reviews aren't bad
  11. So I bought 3 braviken sinks and 2 x single drawer godmorgen, 1 double drawer godmorgen at a really good price. Now I am concerned they won't drain easily, they will stain easily, and concerned the single drawer will work under the sink. No one in the store seemed to know owt.
  12. Just been reading about damage to someones ashp through a surge (cost 1k to fix but they were lucky at that) and another person responded by saying they got surge protection in the meter cabinet for £200. Any thoughts?
  13. What do you think of this?
  14. Hey there,so filling out the application form for the new connection. As I mentioned before there is a 3 phase pole at the rear of the garden and we have managed to secure it for the house. The intention being to futureproof it in terms of having electric cars eventually and microgeneration eventually (not putting up solar panels just yet). The house is passive and just over 2000sqft we will obviously be using ventilation and an ASHP. So my question is, which meter or tariff? Should we get economy 7 for instance? Also there will be 5 adults living in the house and we are doing 4 showers (ensuites) obviously all wont be in use at the same time but 2 or 3 could be easily. The electrician mentioned he would put the house on one phase for safety. I was just wondering how would that effect charging a car? I would love to be able to charge at 22kw.
  15. Thanks, it's appreciated.
  16. Hi, my mother who lives with us hasn't been keeping the best. In terms of selecting a toilet the occupational therapist mentioned height should be governed by the op height?/the distance from the ground to the back of the knee where it bends. I spoke to a carer who said bidet toilets were removed from a nursing home because the residents found the controls confusing. So I was wondering is there a wash and dry toilet with simple controls?
  17. Hello, hopefully we will get a roof in the coming days and the electric pole blocking the entrance has moved and we have secured 3 phase. I have made so many mistakes on the way with the actual construction (don't ask tis resolved) and real life/other stuff took over big time - why on earth did I think this was doable? Definitely ADHD got me here. I will post pics soon. Grateful to this forum, wise heads on here have helped a lot.
  18. We have been using the Reolink for over a year and it's fantastic. The only issue is about once a month from November onwards I have to take the battery home for a few hours to charge it. No biggie. It gives loads of peace of mind and discourages theft.
  19. Just asked by ni electric what MIC for the 3 phase quote. Thinking for solar ,electric car and we have 5 adults with 5 ensuites. Ashp and mechanical ventilation . What mic do u think?
  20. Thanks, I have a lot to get but I would be prepared to spend more on a good quality toilet because i know they take less effort to keep clean. Not so worried about the sink except it would look odd if they didn't match in terms of whiteness. Also looking at base units. Plumbworld seems good but I read on the ikea their last for 10 years.
  21. Ok so nearly at the roof stage but trying to think about the toilets, showers, loos etc. I might start collecting soon lol. Anyway, any suggestions?
  22. So is 0.95 useless for a house aiming to get near passive?
