So the other half is away to put the radon barrier on the bidons that were delivered yesterday. After building control checks on Monday afternoon, we will get a lorry load of 9x4's and I have been told to drop them on the slab for the main build to kick off. Thing is, I don't want the radon barrier to tear with the work going on. I was thinking of using old carpet to help protect it. Whatcha think?

with inflation I reckon they could redo the programme with 200 or 300k. I loved it for the way they saved money and challenged the conventional using industrial etc. Anyway, thinking about our roof, the architect originally drew it with zinc but he has another client that used corrugated steel. We have been hugely fortunate having him, he has been very- decent. We have thought about going with a variety of things from trocal to slates or tiles but that would change the whole appearance too much. Has anyone else used corrugated steel? Thinking of the show 'the house that 100k built' what did you like about it, what did you see done that you think - that's good? I bring it up when people who pass the site say 'it's like Grand Design' because it so isn't. My husband once in exasperation said I liked 'culchie industrial aesthetic' which still cracks me up. We are obviously trying to find a happy medium.

A scaffolder who has been using it with the new boards will be erecting it, doing the uplifts and weekly ticket. -

Any update? -
We might yet go slate, any brand to look out for?
-
Hi, we are swapping from a standing seam roof because the budget is under pressure. I have been told to use tile and that good ones don't discolour. That slate is WAY more expensive and you need nearly twice as many. If thats the case, what tiles do you recommend? Then I can chase down the best price.

What sq footage is your home? We are around 2000 sq ft and we need to sort this out. Have you checked out prices for spares for it? Good point about Nuaire. -
Yep have handed it over to architect and excellent joiner to check. The way they have designed their quotes differ because of the design and systems. The cheapest was posi joists, the most expensive was space joists. Also in this whole journey so far wild differences in prices for the same things has been happening. It doesn't surprise me because at the supermarkets the same thing is happening.
