Nope. Makes the problem worse.
-
No….no…..and no again. How many times do I have to say no do not build like this. You will get problems with interstitial condensation if you build like this.
-
Perhaps. But the size and shape could have been determined by factors we are not privy to.

Try getting a mortgage!

It’s always the architect who gets the flack!

You’ll have a massive cold bridge there I’m afraid. Are your joists laid to a fall?
-
Don’t…..just don’t.
-
Happy to help.

I am not sure if this will work - the levels and falls would need to be fully worked out. You’d need to start from the bottom of the window cill and work out your levels from there. The gutter insulation could be reduced to the absolute minimum - I suspect 150mm could probably get your U-value but this would need to be checked.

Can you fall the flat roof towards the wall with the problem window dropping down into a gutter running along that wall formed by reducing the flat roof insulation thickness in the gutter.

Are trickle vents legally required in conservation areas?
ETC replied to Dusty's topic in Windows & Glazing
Wherever the CA is located it has been established to conserve and protect the historic heritage of an area. UPVC does not belong in a CA or a Victorian dwelling. -

Build a brick wall just inside your boundary. -

You will probably need PP to replace windows in a CA and probably won’t get consent to put in PVC. In any case either get your existing windows refurbished including proper draught-proofing or put in new timber windows. And to answer your question - there are other ways to achieve Background Ventilation other than trickle vents. -

1HRFR external wall required plus Class 0 spread of flame for the cladding - you’d need that spec looked at by a specialist supplier. -
How we chose our architect
ETC commented on RedRhino's blog entry in Hampshire self-build. Cheap, high quality and fast - we want all three
Are you confusing an architectural designer with an architect? -
Fridge in hallway / fire regs and ventilation
ETC replied to makingprogress's topic in Building Regulations
A couple of points: Where does it say in the Regulations that you cannot put a fridge in a hall? How did the BCO get from cupboard to fridge? -
Ask your BCO if you can submit a calculated trade off calculation.

Balcony leading to flat roof....does it need fall protection?
ETC replied to Thorfun's topic in Flat Roofs
Only and only if you install it flush with the inside face of the wall so that the parapet doesn’t create a step otherwise 1100mm from the top of the parapet. -

ETC replied to Thorfun's topic in Flat Roofs
Needs 1100mm high guarding. -
SE will trump a BCO every time. If an SE told me that it was ok in turf I’d give it a big tick.

The only thing I can think about is to use the different colour to mark out a path to your front door or car parking spaces.
-
Give the contractor a pair of glasses. He should have stopped after a few blocks were laid.
-
Not even close! Rip them all up and start again.
