  1. So I designed and build my foundations to accept ISOTEX ICF Blocks, however you may have read the post about Insulhub going into receivership, my blocks should have been delivered this week but that’s not going to happen. so I need to redesign my construction. The foundation walls are 380mm wide so I’m considering using 100mm Celcon Aircrete blocks with 180mm cavities with 100mm PIR which I believe will give a U Value of .15W/m2K the same as the Isotex blocks would have given. Has anyone built with large cavities and used PIR cavity insulation that can give me some pointers.
  2. Yeah I paid final amount in December blocks should have been delivered last month
  3. Dot and dab quick and easy unless you need to cut channels in the dense blocks for cables or pipes. Then the service void with battens would be handy
  4. Whats your wall construction ?
  5. I do that, also with stanly knives
  6. @Trw144 I agree, having looked at a lot of alternatives they do seem well made and good value for money. Good to hear feedback from someone who has used them for 6 years 👍
  7. We looked at the Reynears CP130 but are now going for the newer better performing Reynears Master Patio, they give better u value than the CP130 and seem excellent value for the money. We looked at some of the really slim doors but I’m not keen on the glass being structural, god forbid you broke the glass. So the Master Patio seems a good compromise with not too chunky sightlines plus they are dry glazed so not to bad to fit.
  8. EIS have 100m sheets at £37 + VAT so not far off what i paid in June, So you don't want to be paying anything over £50 a sheet
  9. yes of course but how does that relate to floor / insulation height, if its a ground bearing slab inside the foundation walls its independent of the foundation walls. I can see the relevance if using block and beam but not for ground bearing.
  10. Why would floor insulation need to be brick coursable ? Surely brick courses are irrelevant as the insulation goes inside the foundations at whatever height you put the hardcore to. I laid my own foundation walls and installed the hardcore and insulation no probs.
  11. Just checked my invoice 24/06/2022 88 sheets 100mm Celotex £3366 + VAT £573. so total £3939
  12. June last year, a company in Norfolk https://easterninsulationsupplies.co.uk/
  13. So 2 layers to give 300mm at £30 a sheet is £60 plus the extra muck away won’t be much if any cheaper than 200mm PIR. I used 2 layers of 100mm Celotex so 88 sheets £4500
  14. Very cheap considering they are exactly the same pump as the Veissman Vitocal 100-a @JohnMoyou were right I’ve had it confirmed by Veissman UK
  15. Again why have a screed and a slab, just put the UFH pipes on the PIR then 100mm slab. having a screed is like having 2 slants, you only need 1
  16. I’m surprised I though they usually suggested UFH in the slab, that’s what I have done. With the screed directly ontop of the slab you’ll be heating the slab anyway, so you could have saved the cost of the screed.
  17. Why have you got a screed on top of the slab ? I’m building with Isotex but I have strip footings so I have just run the the DPC under the slab and over the footings, the first course of blocks will be laid on the DPC Have you asked Jamie or Dave at insulhub
  18. There would be a massive difference between installing in a new build with a designed plant room compared to a retrofit. In a new build build with plant room just the other side of the heat pump, I can’t see how it should take more than a couple of days for plumbing and electrical.
  19. Yeah saw that 9kw is a bit big for me
  20. Yeah can’t find a UK supplier though, might still be worth getting one from Italy
  21. @JohnMo Are you going down the self install route ? I had looked at the Viesemann Vitocal 100-a, which looks the same as the Maxa you mentioned.
  22. Bloody hell that makes my experience a walk in the park, well done for seeing it through. It does make my blood boil when you hear how much sway individuals can have on these applications. Too much power given to the wrong people in my view.
  23. Yeah I have the Huepar laser level it’s been great, easy to use and very accurate
  24. I have a Huepar it’s been great https://uk.huepar.com/products/laser-distance-meter-range-finder-measure-330ft-100m-with-li-ion-battery-huepar?currency=GBP&variant=36163874324648&utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=google&utm_campaign=Google Shopping&gclid=CjwKCAiA2L-dBhACEiwAu8Q9YGDrhPTCmThxgh3BbE-v8g9jZwA0a6n4cPuKcsEfvwsn1nQDHee7ERoCX_MQAvD_BwE
  25. That’s what I read on the .gov site so it’s standard rate for two years then it increases so where do they get the 300% and £15k from ?
