Electric meter box on ICF
Chanmenie replied to Chanmenie's topic in Insulated Concrete Formwork (ICF)
Thanks John, I’ll ask the supply company if they’ll accept it indoors -
Those of you having built with ICF, what electric meter boxes did you use, recessed or surface. My understanding is recessed box’s need 150mm deep recesses, so many ICF blocks would not be thick enough. If you did have room for a recessed box would you want to fit one and compromise the insulation or fit a surface box

Yes indeed Nick, if you want to run a successful business you can’t hang on to underperforming staff, bad feedback and reviews can really damage a business. -

Feedback states some of them weren’t very good, which compounded Jamie’s problems -

Yes they did I’ve spoken with a couple of them, everyone involved in both companies is out of work, even Jamie’s brother in law. -

All the guys who worked for Insulhub Contracting were told by Jamie they out of work, the vans have been recovered and are in a pound in Manchester, some of the guys are owed wages. so Insulhub Contracting is no longer in business -

I hope this is ok to promote here if not please delete. I have set up a Facebook Group "ISOTEX users UK" for those who plan on taking up the offer from Italy and continue with their Isotex builds. The idea is to share knowledge and experience and buy / Sell spare blocks, I can hopefully get some members who have finished their builds or have more experience. We could just try and coordinate on this forum but I felt i'd get more reach on Facebook. I would also promote this forum on the FB group as the members here have been so helpful. -

@Nickfromwales Can you not render directly onto EPS ICF like Nudura ? -

Yeah that I noticed that but with the inner insulation only being 55mm you can easily screw into the concrete core, the external more of an issue but i guess not a problem if using render -

@Russell griffiths Out of interest what was it you didn't like about Beco Wallform. -

@Russell griffiths Ive been looking at what in your opinion is a better system, unfortunately for me I have lost my money and had paid for all the blocks, the offer from Italy to buy ISOTEX direct at a 45% discount will probably work out quite a bit cheaper than an alternative polystyrene system. Although i'm waiting to hear about transport costs. But i will be getting quotes and take it from there. -
Are the tiles the easiest / most cost effective?
Chanmenie replied to JohnBishop's topic in Wall Tiles & Tiling
@nod which brand have you fitted ? I was chatting with a vendor of a bathroom company, he was saying they would only fit Bushboard Nuance as it the only one that’s totally waterproof, the backing is dense foam so not affected by moisture. -

I really don't think Jamie will come good, he's been lying for months, so he knew the business was going tits up a long while ago. I'm in the same boat as you so am waiting to find out what the customs and delivery costs will be from Italy, then ill compare against the alternatives. I was originally promised by Andy my blocks would be delivered in February so I should have be up to wall plate height or have the roof on by now. -

Hi Pete, sorry to hear that, I am in same boat as you albeit a smaller amount, I was told my blocks were on way 27th March so Jamie lied to me right up until beginning of April, I also contacted Isotex and was told the same as you. I also wonder how long the lies and deception have been going on, I was manipulated by Andy to pay the balance of what I owed in December so I have suspicions it could have been prior to that. -
Block and Block with 180mm cavity instead of Isotex ICF
Chanmenie replied to Chanmenie's topic in Brick & Block
Out of interest whats wrong with rigid PIR cavity boards if fitted correctly and taped ? I'll look into stick built as you suggest thanks. -
Block and Block with 180mm cavity instead of Isotex ICF
Chanmenie replied to Chanmenie's topic in Brick & Block
Yes I have lost money, my Isotex blocks were paid for. so I need a system I can do myself, With DIY, lightweight blocks and rigid PIR work out much cheaper than ICF especially when you factor in the cost of concrete and pump hire. I’m surprised you say they are hard to to fix to and render to, how are they any worse than EPS. -
Block and Block with 180mm cavity instead of Isotex ICF
Chanmenie replied to Chanmenie's topic in Brick & Block
Hi Nick thanks for the suggestion but Nudura won’t fit on my footing as the 150mm concrete would sit partially over the cavity, I think the only other ICF would be Thermawall as they do a 50-150-100 or a 50-150-150 which because of the initial 50mm eps would fit on my footing. -

Block and Block with 180mm cavity instead of Isotex ICF
Chanmenie replied to Chanmenie's topic in Brick & Block
Yeah have looked at recticel eurowall+ and Celotex thermocel which is the same thing. if I reduce cavity to 150mm I’ll have 30mm of dense block uncovered that will be a cold bridge and could cause condensation. I spoke to Celotex and recticel and asked why their T&G boards could only have a residual cavity of 10mm and they both replied it was because of the BBA certificate was done on that basis. but if use the plain cavity boards I should have a 50mm residual cavity, yet both boards are made from PIR -

So how does bank transfer give any protection ? I’ve been told by my bank that I have no protection because I did a bank transfer
