  1. My heart is telling me stainless. Renderer has specified plastic beads.
  2. OK, so I need to cover the timber cavity closures between the block work and the windows ready for rendering (traditional sand and cement). Im thinking: Staple building paper/membrane to the timber so that the timber doesn't pull the water out faster than the blockwork. 100mm EML mesh roll which overlaps onto the blocks. Two unresolved thoughts: Stainless or galvanised EML? How to attach the EML? Decisions, decisions.
  3. Tell me about it. It's an oxymoron.
  4. Ta. Understood. I won't get there tonight as work is getting in the way.
  5. Its you you donut
  6. Hi Nick, sorry I am succeeding in confusing! All I was doing in the above was answering your question: "Are the kitchen diner thresholds level with the one marked?" Thus my datum point is at "0" and the measurements show the threshold level. If everything had been done correctly then all of these measurements should be 18mm (I.e. 18mm from threshold to slab). However they are not. BUT I do have more than 6mm and 8mm on that West door. this thus corresponds with the slab sloping. When I get to site later I'm going to take some slab measurements and will add them to the drawing. Hopefully it will then become clearer P.S. I know a really good pro-tiler but he's too bloody busy to do my floor
  7. OK, dragging this thread back to the beginning. @Nickfromwales OK, so popped up to site yesterday when I had a brief moment and set up the laser (just sat it on the floor). The results appear "less good" Note that the measurements below are to the threshold edge where the top of the tiles would sit. However, the results below only answer Nicks question about "are the two doors level". The gap below the threshold to the slab is actually around 20mm. This presumably demonstrates the slab not being level. As already show above the gap from threshold to slab on the slider differs considerably left to right. My head hurts I've also attached a couple of photo's of the laser line. The hinge position on each door photographed is identical.
  8. Nothing to see here. Move along
  9. Wall mounted control valve (above left of bath) and a bath filler (i.e. fills from the overflow). Well thats my guess
  10. I spotted that too. I love a good bovine! I'm a big fan of Paul James. My person favourite is this one http://www.collect-art.com/Adrian-Cows_art_3228 but I have many (too many!!) more works by Paul and almost all of his Urban series. https://www.pauljamesgallery.com/ I just don't have enough walls

+!. Ignoring a notice will put you deep in the doodoo!
  12. Stunning. You must be really chuffed.
  13. It will. All PPE is deemed as the last option/resort in terms of H&S. If you do a risk assessment and show that PPE is appropriate to the risk then thats fine. However, its impossible to give proper advise without being able to see or know full details of the site, job and appropriate risks. Oooooh and that lovely word "competent". The HSE love it. Now there is a whole bag of onions.

Luck of the draw, unless someone specifically reports you. The OP mentioned that there are 4 sites in close proximity. He could have gone to one on a planned visit and then just stopped at the others. An inspector for the HSE actually has more powers in terms of right of entry than the police!
  15. On a great deal of major developers sites you now can't even climb a ladder without fall arrest (I.e. Harness, lanyard). Oh that's if they even allow ladders!! Many don't.

Are you sure he didn't just mean fall arrest equipment for those working at height? Inspectors have a pretty broad and open remit/powers. Self build or otherwise it's a building site. http://www.hse.gov.uk/enforce/index.htm
  17. Oooh a new series. I wonder how many women folk he will get pregnant in this series? He should give up building houses and try fertility, the blokes a bloody god
  18. 20mm. You can get a 2.5mm ring (two cables) in without too much trouble. Edit: The 20mm males will then go straight into the metal clad socket through the knockout. Bang tidy Edit2: The bends are easier to feed than the elbows which are quite tight.
  19. I used Toolstation as it was cheapest. It was fine.
  20. Or just warm it up with a hot air gun on a low heat. You and your fetishes
  21. According to the Orical that is http://pavingexpert.com/drain02.htm 900mm for plastic. See 'gradients and cover'
  22. Folded it down so it sloped away from the frame. It was thus under the first course of blocks.
  23. I should add that those Internorm doors/windows better be able to withstand waterjets. The rain comes in horizontal and at force in winter (and sometimes summer!).
