But ; of course I can't complain as my RHI payment will be more. But it shows what a mess of dis-functional nonsense it is. I'm kind of happy getting a 'D' and kind of annoyed - if you know what I mean.

Suspended ceiling at openings
Pocster replied to Pocster's topic in General Self Build & DIY Discussion
I intend to keep them; even with suspend ceiling going in. Took me many years to grow those babies. -
I needed an EPC for my MCS installed air source heat pump. As we all know the worse the rating the better my payment - which quite frankly is ridiculous . Anyway he rated my new build as D. Reasons for 'down grading it ' were ... he didn't acknowledge ( or understand maybe ) the MVHR, Tesla battery not a valid point , PV no mention. More interesting ... because no obvious room thermostats rates it 2/5 ( no understanding of HA ) Hot water also only gets 2/5 To give some context. All my rentals are 1930 terraced houses with double glazing ( my build has triple ) and a gas boiler - yet they are all 'D' So 'efficiency ' wise on paper my new build is no better than them. Perhaps he did it to increase my RHI . I did ask him to down grade it before he began with his response being " I can only do what I see". So , it's a complete mockery. In real terms I am probably a 'B' - the system is a joke

Yes - this sounds like a good approach
-
No , no , no . If you could see what I can see you’d understand. I could put an access panel every 1m I suppose .
-
Ffs ! Rubbish game anyway ! You win Zoots heating system
-
No sleep for anyone tonight until I win . Knew I should of dug down another level
-
Ffs ! Lets do it by volume . What’s your floor to ceiling height ?
-
Yeah I could do that. It would be easy to add. I did think of things like that some time ago. But playing with these things will need to take a back seat for now....
-
Can't have plasterboard ceiling. Too much of a PITA . Also I want access to everything everywhere - because of the eclectic layout..... ?
-
HMMMM! 92m2 But that's allowing for finished wall to finished wall. Bet @Thorfun is cheating and using just floor area. I also have my dungeon courtyard - I should add that in really; which is 24m2 So total is 116m2 - funny how I win by 1m2 - my measuring though is rather "subjective" - anyway ... I WIN!
-
(expletive deleted) THAT! - Measuring it now!
-
Not sure how you are going to measure "performance " ? My view of performance will be how small the electric bill is. I *could* in theory add HA to water tank ( even every electrical appliance and socket ) so I could see exactly what is using how much. But - I'm sure exactly how useful all that info would be.
-
FFS mine 98m2!!! BOLLOCKS! - going to measure it accurately later. I AM DUNGEON KING!
-
Not sure what the question is here? Monitor it? ; my PV production, how full or empty a battery is? ; my daily consumption/export? - you mean all that?? Through the APP! - come on Cornwall catch up!
-
Tesla installs are at least a 6 month wait; I've been told. I believe you are 3 phase - so you could in theory have 3 of the bad boys. SolarEdge ( as I said may for install ) so that's not too bad. No idea about SE - but @Nickfromwales is a plumber/tiler - not sure his expertise expands into battery storage .?
-
It was only because the installer who bothered to reply to my many questions recommended SE. ( probably they don't do SW ). I email loads of companies on anything I am interested in. No reply, or a weak reply, or just a "brochure attached " means I bin them. If they can survive 10 emails of questions then it shows me they want my business and $$$$$. I would add another Tesla battery but aren't allowed . With SE I can do what the (expletive deleted) I want.

Suspended ceiling at openings

I don't know. I think a timber structure then perhaps with plasterboard for the recess will be quite heavy. I don't like doing neat timber work....... -
What are your dungeons dimensions? - better not be bigger than mine otherwise I shall add an underground extension!
-
One thing you should be aware of as I've been told by all suspended ceiling suppliers - it will look like a Swindon Office block ceiling ....
-
Yep I believe that is exact what I am doing. 1st Solar Edge battery goes in in May; will allow space to piggy back another 2.

Well (expletive deleted)ing helpful ? -
Not sure of the best way to deal with this. The suspended system relies on tracks around the perimeter and then structs crossing it to form a grid. I've got skylights and a stairwell to contend with. I need to construct somehow a 'structure' around these so the suspended ceiling trim can fix. Any suggestions welcome
