  1. A man that takes a problem and claims there is no problem is a woman. A man that takes a problem and complicates it so it's a problem for another man is a CHAMPION! The said 2nd man needs to man up .
  2. My ufh screed cracked months later across the doorways . I have used ditra matting - just so I sleep better at night ??
  3. Depends on door styles/handles etc. etc. But around 1k each inc vat ( new build so I get that back ).
  4. Also I used 'lite' weight concrete posts. Cost a bit more but much easier if you are doing it on your own.
  5. I had a slightly similar issue. I wanted concrete fence posts but all my ground had been dug out and would be back filled ( underground house ). I was worried the 'earth' wouldn't be solid enough. So I shuttered the length I needed and plenty of depth. I then placed chucks of PIR insulation where each post would go ( with some allowance for play! ). From memory I wedged / screwed them in situ to the osb / scaff board shuttering. Then got a lorry load of concrete pumped in along the shuttered trench. Not sure if that's the best way to do it!. Once concrete cured fixing the posts was easy ( more work trying to get the PIR out ). Concrete posts have been up 4 years now - not one has moved. Hope my explanation is clear.
  6. With Duren during all the Covid stuff I think my wait was around 3 or 4 months ?
  7. I’ll ask again to the gods that be ; can we please have a “ ffs “ emoji . I need to post that 10000000000000000000000000000000000000000 times at least
  8. Look at local planning applications and see which architect names keep coming up . As for cost of architect I did double or quits on a successful application. This was my 3rd architect and once passed I owed him 15k . I pre agreed to pay him 1k a month in cash ? If not your forever home just design / build with selling in mind . Don’t need everything in it .
  9. Water always gets where you don’t want it . I can’t understand why the tiler thinks a gap ( no matter how small ) is ok in a wet area . It may be possible to grout that - certainly try before silicone on a small area .
  10. Yes on both points ! look great and cost a packet . Great to install - fab quality on everything
  11. Got other walls to do . Why spend £1000’s just to get 6 strawberries
  12. Maybe . I can then (expletive deleted)ing hang her
  13. This is a SWMBO thing so minimal cost is essential!!
  14. Doesn’t need to be . Dry fit system . Interlocking then you just crane pump concrete straight into them .
  15. Trays too expensive f me !
  16. Would cable trays be strong enough to hold window boxes + soil , water and plant ?? Watering can too much like hard work ! Automate watering for sure !
  17. I’ll check out the zinnser stuff SWMBO wants a (expletive deleted)ing tropical forest growing up there with green shitty things we eat aswell . I just say “ yeah “ then think ffs . Looked at the material pocket wall hangers ( Amazon etc ) - seem shite . So maybe plant ‘ troughs ‘ bolted to the wall - who knows !! ??
  18. You bringing steak and wine or (expletive deleted) all ?
  19. Pizza later people!
  20. SWMBO has an idea! ( I don't mind as it's minimal work for me ) This lovely concrete block wall needs painting ( white I have been told ) - assume I need to treat this wall with something?? This prep ready for her vertical garden idea ( anyone done something similar ? ; how did you deal with irrigation? )
