Recommendations for a lock box
Pocster replied to Adsibob's topic in Networks, AV, Security & Automation
This approach is good ! The first gives a longitude The second gives a latitude You then meet him/her/it/they ( hard to be inclusive these days without offending someone ) and then you stab them ( it , him - whatever ) Extreme ? maybe ! - or the next Saw script !!! 😎 -
You’ve never seen me with a giant dildo ! - that’s a lie ! . Though …. If it’s a suggestion OnlyFans is waiting !

I’d say it’s piss easy to make them ! Paint them pink so they look like giant dildos - ain’t no man gonna touch them 😉

Recommendations for a lock box
Pocster replied to Adsibob's topic in Networks, AV, Security & Automation
What I do to prevent people busting open lockboxes is put a tenner next to it . Lockbox never been vandalised , though I seem to be going through tenners quite quickly …. -
Made lots of progress here . By friggin ing a Ring can get Alexa to say whatever I want ( though use voice monkey ) for tts . Lots of applications and abuse for sure .

Thanks @Russell griffiths ! My build is “ work in progress , completion date TBA “

Out of interest would like to see some photos ! . Not sure I’d live long enough to complete another build 😊

Nah - I’m not that organised! 🙄

I do have automated backups of everything to my nas . But yes - it’s not plug ‘n play ! This of course is ontop of phscon , deconz on conbee …. so getting ( hopefully ) any zigbee device to work . Nothing worse being stuck for example in ‘ Philips hue ‘ world - where you must buy their product at an inflated price to have the functionality you want . Cheap , cheap direct from China - but can require work …
-
Yeah I know ! You have to run the script this way though … on windows
-
The drama is the fun ! Automation in my opinion should just happen ( lights on / off for example ) . Choice of music though requires some input ( tbh it’s often quicker to just use iPeng and select it ) .
-
No languages really . It’s all rather convoluted though …. So in homeseer ( HA ) it has Alexa functionality built in . But it can deal with any and all devices - which means it has a rather broad approach . To do something simple “ Alexa , turn on bathroom light “ is just a few menu tick boxes . To talk to squeezebox ( music streamer ) is more tricky . The instructions online aren’t very good … Need to create a custom script ( which a website helps you do ) , run this as a windows power shell . This then creates an ngrok tunnel . You get a unique identifier - you then use this to link the tunnel to squeezebox . There are a few other things that need to be done and caveats ( hence why most customer reviews are ‘ rubbish doesn’t work ‘ ) - it requires some effort . It’s obviously not aimed at the point and click brigade . The fact it takes an old but useful piece of software and adds Alexa functionality is pretty good I think ( squeezebox is small , efficient and very practical ) . You can then via HA have a keyword to trigger entire events if you wish e.g “ Alexa , do Christmas “ - could do any sequence of events . So then you can simplify come spoken words for speed - but I guess almost creating your own dialogue ….

Yes ! The title is not click bait ! In her absence ( but now returned ) I was given a gold star. Never really a fan of Alexa because without viable use it’s just a gimmick ( an interesting one at that ) But now , now we have SWMBO approval for HA application of Alexa . ” Alexa , tell media server to play the latest Coldplay album in the living room “ media server references squeezebox on a pc . Living room ( it couldn’t understand my pronunciation of lounge ) is the raspberry pi with dac to speakers ; so not through Alexa speaker . Naturally you can instruct media server to change volume , skip track , play radio , play random etc etc ” Alex red lights on “ in the bathroom causes led rgbw to go red . Naturally we have a cycling “ rainbow “ option . It’s important to appreciate I have no ‘Alexa enabled devices ‘ in our home apart from the phone . So this is about adding functionality to things that don’t have it . I then struggled ( with a work around ) and did “ Alexa open door “ . Perhaps need to be careful with that one ( someone shouting outside could open our front door !! ) HA is doing a lot of the heavy lifting here as none of the devices support Alexa natively. So many ideas of things to try now ! 😎

Personal preference override automation
Pocster replied to Pocster's topic in Networks, AV, Security & Automation
Automation at its most basic level ( lights on , lights off ) can save a great deal of hassle in a large open plan room and also cost savings on light switches . -

I don’t wonder . I know why -

Yeah but very old skool boring . Best to over complicate with automation 😁 -
Personal preference override automation

Yeah - I can implement that easily and am still considering it . Maybe Alexa commands override default and as you say exist for longer until timing out back to ‘normal’ mode . -

Most rooms don’t have switches ( though I could do that ) . I think geo fencing will solve lots of issues on a room basis until of course SWMBO leaves her phone in a different room . -
Personal preference override automation
Pocster replied to Pocster's topic in Networks, AV, Security & Automation
It’s not the sensing that’s an issue . if default lounge lights are say white at 80% dim . Swmbo ( via Alexa as unlikely to use my rough iPhone interface ) makes lights blue at 100% . When do I instigate the default of white 80% . When does automation reset over personal preference ? . I can’t be ass’d to change light colours / dim everytime someone has fiddled with them . Mulling over geo fencing on a room basis …. -

(expletive deleted) wit The underlining technology is a non issue … 😊🙄 -

How does that help ?? -
In swmbo’s absence I’ve been experimenting ( no , not like that ) Whilst not a huge fan of Alexa ( unless it’s on a different website ) have got some integration into my HA . But … in the bathroom ( for example ) lights come on / off depending on motion sensor ( still not allowed a camera ) . If SWMBO is sat in the bath watching crap on her phone ( even though there’s a wall mounted iPad 🙄 ) ; lights go out due to lack of activity - she waves her arms or says “ Alexa ( bitch ) lights on “ - how should I revert to “automatic lighting “ again ? . I thought maybe a timer - or after 2 hours of no motion in bathroom it reverts back to ‘automatic’ mode . Seems a bit crude . Geo fence swmbo’s phone to in/out bathroom ?. Reset at midnight to default automation ? There’s plenty of situations where automation can be overridden yet needs to ‘reset’ at some point … Suggestions welcome !
