Prompted by @dogman's comment over on @Crofter's thread: The 10 year old got out of the bath tonight claiming it was too hot. Was in there long enough! So it got me thinking of TMVs. Separate hot and cold in 15mm to these taps: Anything I can fit here? Cheers

I need to get some UPVC trim to mitre bond on and render up to. Found a short, random length in the back of the old stable that matches some of the other windows (a line of holes in it for some reason). Measures nom 15x13mm. eBay to the rescue: http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/uPVC-Window-Finishing-Architrave-Trims-Plastic-PVC-4-x-1120mm-Lengths-/371424653872?var=640503198825&hash=item567aa27230%3Am%3Am5xcIc9bXTRM14UOYZWBkmg&_trkparms=pageci%3A5902c002-ebb1-11e6-ac6c-74dbd18094f7%7Cparentrq%3A0eba196015a0a5e0b8851677ffa27f9e%7Ciid%3A8&varId=640503198825

Kind comments thanks but mines one of those "I'd have done it all different" jobs. Had I been more aware of techniques now learnt on here would have. Nothing a bit of spare cash for new cladding, my chippie mate, a nail gun & beer can't sort come the Summer maybe: For me it's got to be @Barney12's without a doubt: Ticks every box for me. Potential proper man cave.....or should that be bat cave?

I would not, no way, no how, never, push the bars in afterwards. As above, piece of timber to suspend them and then pour, vibrate. Sticking in afterwards also risks allowing water to run down the gap around the bar. I've been putting cranes/cleaning rigs running in rails on roofs for the last 34 years and the holding down units are always suspended in timber boxes etc then the concrete added. Bus man's holiday but did similar on my brother's astronomy pier:

150mm PIR in the shed floor will be enough won't it?

Garden room is the next thing "shed" like I'm going to build. Trying to convince my daughter to let me demolish the tree house and wendy house and put one decent shed up. I'd do it with a nod to Passivhaus, on a nice thick raft of EPS etc, sealed up maybe MVHR, solar. Big front windows to capture the sun. Or maybe something that can rotate.....
-
MY shed.....I should have thought further than "Oh I'm getting a free (albeit old) shed!" Basically a freebie that I raised up on a dwarf wall. Those stocks along the front date from 1863: I used the original door to provide timber to block up the side windows: The stable door was made from scrap firewood, heavy as hell: Worst thing ever was to try and insulate using gun foam, it's made the T&G open up on the outside: Why do I do these things? Wouldn't have been much more effort to build something decent! EDIT: Maybe later I'll rip the old T&G off and re-clad. Probably the best way out.

No distortion on the sill whatsoever. Down to the clamping whilst curing I'm sure. One screw up I made with foam which I regret was to foam fill my 100x100mm steel gate posts. They condensate on the outside.

Before I tried the chisel method I'd called my nephew (it was him who put me onto the window supplier in the first place and he's done some of his own). No answer so I went for it. I'd just got all the beads in when he turned up. I asked him if he'd had to take beads out again and he said yes by it was a complete bitch, you end up damaging them etc. He was as surprised as me when I showed him. Bit of rendering tomorrow though I might get some UPVC beads to butt up to and mitre bond them on. Wife's saying "It's warmer already!". Good sign. Back in the bathroom I guess. Got to order a wall hung wc when we can agree. Visiting big bro in hospital sometime. Slipped on his drive and managed to separate his thigh muscle from his kneecap! Went last night but he was in theatre. 8-12 weeks in plaster and the same for physio etc.

Piece of pi$$ and then some.....seriously! Slightly blunt chisel in this gap, bevel down. Give it a tap. Doesn't damage the frame and it just "lifts" out. Surprised me as I was expecting it would eff it up: Forget trying to lever from the rubber edge.

And he falls at the last post! It WAS all going so well too..... Got the window in. Old one out no problems despite the carp Erbauer sabre saw blades. In and wedged level. Foamed and allowed to go off a bit. FRAME fixings in. Putting the glass in and beading from the inside and the big ones in fine. But putting the fanlight in I made what I guess is the rookie mistake and put the long sides in first. Consequently it's a bitch trying to get the short bits in now. Just no "flex" in them. Is there an easy way of removing the beads without damaging them? (On the plus side it's much warmer in there now though that might be psychological!) Cheers

Following on from the insulated cat box theme how about a carefully crafted, well insulated take away boxes? Useful for when you have to drive some distance to grab a pizza etc. Of course, depending where in the world you live take away CAT may be on the menu! (Pretty sure there was a special edition Ford Fiesta years ago with a built in gimmick/feature for keeping food warm!)- 27 replies

Couldn't resist.... 5 equi spaced, 6mm holes starting 50mm from the end. Mitre bonded one end cap on. Foamed the bottom hole then when it started coming out of the second hole up foamed into that and so on. Then lightly clamped a bit of ply on without compressing anything:

Ebay, I bet it'll go. http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/Kingspan-Offcuts-90mm-thick-/192091018250?hash=item2cb984540a%3Ag%3ASBQAAOSwAvJW8zKA&_trkparms=pageci%3A12a013d1-ea51-11e6-a675-74dbd180ae0b%7Cparentrq%3A05b56e1315a0a5e295e3e638ff9f3a99%7Ciid%3A1 Failing that stick together with low expansion foam to make a big useful sheet.- 27 replies

Wanted: 92.5 degree double branch adaptor (110mm)

When I did my bath waste @Nickfromwales said to do it in "50mm". Off I went to Plumbcentre, asked for 50mm and came back with a bunch of solvent weld parts inc stuff to reduce down to the sink waste that tees into it. It's all in and working. I've just had a look / measure of the CB3 elbow. Stamped on it says 55mm but is nearer 56mm. YET its a 50mm on their site: http://www.plumbcenter.co.uk/product/center-cb3%3Ab-abs-knuckle-bend-8850-deg-50-mm/ The sink stuff says 36mm on it but measures nearer 37mm on th OD. And that's from their 40mm range! Didn't mean to give you a bum steer on that part btw! I wonder if 50mm refers to the internal diameter in the way plumbers refer to "3/4" nominal bore" pipes? -
Ta. I see the adjusters now on this Geberit. Those Bernstein wc's, I used to use some great big electrical limit switches by "Bernstein" built like a tank. Be nice to think it's the same company / quality.
-
Sussed it now. CH101 for £164. What's the installation kit I wonder, there's that backing plate thing...... .....what I should have asked was do I need the "backing plate", what looks like a profiled metal plate in the 2nd link or is that the sound deadening thing? Interesting with the Bernstein cistern that the litreage is adjustable on both flushes.
