Ta. Now then, orientation, the place would be best in the far corner of the plot. To suit the garden it would put the principle elevation facing SW, possibly SSW. I believe that's pretty good in terms of solar gain etc?

Is there any reason against using 150mm of good old mixed hard core, suitably compacted under a 300mm EPS insulating layer for something like this? This rather than say Type 3. It's just that it's "on site" so to speak in the form of already broken up old paths and slabs thus zero cost for a start. I always worry about vermin like rats and also foxes, badgers, rabbits etc making burrows under such a nice "warm" slab. I've masses of old greenhouse glass. Would a layer of that over the area, subsequently smashed up before the hard core "work"? Cheers.

If you want steep then check out Baldwin St in Dunedin (NZ). World's steepest street I think. I've been up it in a 4WD and it just felt like it was going to tip back! Going back down wasn't too pleasant either: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baldwin_Street -

It's close smooth to the touch and you can touch a fingernail to it and see the reflection. Really is a thing if beauty. I read up a little bit about it. Something I think said not good in kitchens as it doesn't do well with grease spots? Different types too, one you can wipe with a wet cloth, another with a soapy wet cloth. Whatever it's hugely impressive, like one huge piece of marble.

Tbh I thought Peter's Venetian plaster was MARBLE.

Yep, you just want to touch and wonder at it! See it and you'll want it. I've touched Peter's...

So..... @Nickfromwales reckons a 32mm pipe / tank connector from my Geberit cistern to any DIY "pan extract" system. But where to put it? Either side is thick rib. In the top of the "box"? (The M16 washer serving as a nom 32mm dia thingy in the photo). Cheers

Virtually had a new washing machine (Hotpoint) yesterday all under the service contract. It had that many parts! Well pleased we kept that up. Still, if the missus will insist on buying shoite!

So what happens now you leave it all pressured as a "soak" test? Is there a gauge somewhere so you can see if it drops? EDIT: Just read Terry's post asking the same thing!

Just realised why ALL our felt is rotten along the bottom and in turn the tops of the wodden facias thanks to this. Lack of double row/double cover/starter course!

Is the roof / hip angle slightly different to the original maybe?

The whole place is that tidy believe me!

Nice one. They're keen coming out your way! They could easily meet with an "accident" on those narrow lanes..... EDIT: Tbh their own house is probably a draughty shithole and they want a warm up in nice surroundings!

Christ! There'll be squirrels getting in! Still got to decide what to connect it to in the loft in the absence of any MVHR. -

Next question..... I need, very shortly to drill a hole in the top (?) of the cistern and run a pipe up into the loft. This, for an "odour" take off pipe alluded to elsewhere. Easiest for me would be a bit of 20mm flexible conduit and an M20 stuffing gland siliconed in. Sound about right?
