@nod, these two walls in this cupboard I've to plaster, roughly an area 3.5m2. Now I know I shouldn't even ask but I've half a bag of multi left over from when I did the ceiling and half wall back in August...2018. Stored inside with the bag folded over then shoved in a black bin liner. Could I use it? Would adding some cream of tartar work on "old" plaster? I just HATE waste and LOVE pushing boundaries of what's possible! As the answer is probably NO, I've already bought a new bag! If no good I'll sprinkle on the over site of a neighbour's shed base to get rid. Cheers

Case in point, elderly person wants their sockets or light switches moved up / down to be more accessible. You would be daft to run a new cable. Ditto when some muppet drills through putting a picture up etc. Council clerks of works can be right funny sods. We used to do a lot with the PSA and never were there a bunch of more anal gits. Mirrors on sticks checking we'd painted under things! When Part P came in here we had BCOs insisting all the sockets and switches in the EXISTING lounge and diner be moved to the Part M heights when someone had an extension done. Caused untold rows. Dead testing should further prove the quality of the crimp.

I imagine @scottishjohn coming from the auto industry has some horror stories ref crimps getting wet and failing! When I do an "outside" crimp I dip my wire in silicon grease before crimping. mating crimps get the same treatment. As the Welsh Wizard once said "Not lost a patient yet!". Even convinced my motorbike mad mate into doing it.

Not going to argue with you. I can point to the exact reg that says this can be done. Anyway the "regs" are not statutory (but can be used as a defence in law). Anyone who said the "good jointed cable" was illegal was likely talking out of their arse and on the fiddle. Disagree entirely ref the first place any problem is going to happen is a well made joint. It won't be a properly done crimp it'll be a screw terminal.

Please point me at where it says that in the regs...I've a copy in front of me. Try 526.3 (iv) that this is acceptable.

No problems with what I've shown plastering it straight in a wall tbh. Hence the extra heat shrink. This is a maintenance free join too unlike a jb with screws. Wagos are deemed maintenance free btw. And yes I like heat shrink crimps too! This was done to crimp old T&E with the stranded earth to new: OTT...I'll take it! Edit: I've got so much old colour heat shrink, I'm using it up! Always put a sticker on the cu saying the install is wired in new and old colour schemes.

No need for an rcd socket. It's just a spur off the main circuit that's already got rcd protection. TLC do a BG one with a neon in too if you fancy that. If you go bottom entry with the cable make sure to use a proper gland and secure the cable as well as protecting from anything "chewey". Don't know the layout but you could do in pvc 20mm conduit. Some might insist on nom 300mm separation. Let's face it water, gas & leccy have been known to use the same duct when it suits! How deep is the poo pipe? Ideally put anything carrying "wet" services under anything electrical. Cable ideally at about 18" down with a length of tape just under the "grass" in case anyone goes there with a digger.

So it's properly fused maybe? Edit: My bad, you linked a fused one.

Got to decide how to finish this reveal off and not see the plasterboard edge. White upvc trim maybe and leave projecting by 3mm so the plaster comes up level?

I've got a tool similar to what we used at college to strip the outer sheath off of T&E. Bought it, decided not for me and never used since. Knife for me to neatly score around then slit up the centre peel back. For cores I've a Stripmaster esque one but for the odd bit I've a crappy old Wickes thing bought over 30 years ago with an added bolt that sticks out by 20mm. For critical stuff and especially the rock hard shellaced stuff at work a pair of adjustable CK ones.

Couldn't find my part roll of green vcl so pressed a 1200mm long, clear refuse sack into use: Really can't fault this Parkside drywall gun: Can't decide on boarding this back bit...thinking down to and up as far as the green arrows and have a full width removable panel. Or do I overboard the narrow bit on the left too and have a smaller panel? This is all going to be plastered.

Some foil tape here and there. Probably overkill insulating these internal walls but SWMBO has commented more than once how quiet the new bathroom is! I need to make a removable / hinged panel feature to access the valve and get my hand in to the right to access the Geberit connections. Sod's Law the panel edges won't fall on grout lines! Maybe do a full width, removable ply panel 3 tiles high and just screw in place? Still fancy something hinged...
