  1. Just under 3 1/2" to be precise!
  2. Went to do this and I'm so low on heating oil I'm running on vapours! It can wait until I get the tank filled up. No way am I wasting all that hot water right now. Anyway, I thought I'd cut the pipes ready. Took the window sill out and offered the various fittings up, measuring and cutting the 28mm copper pipe length. Question: I need wriggle room to get this all in. How important is it that the pipe goes all the way into the Yorkshire? On the elbows for instance the pipe goes in 24mm. Does it matter if it's only in by say 20/22mm once it's all soldered up? Cheers
  3. Morning, Correct me if I'm wrong but it sounds like you are just adding UFH on top of an existing floor? That 25mm is what, some sort of thin, thermal insulating board? Is there any insulation under the floor say like 150mm worth of pir? If not you'll just be leeching heat downwards. It'll work but your heating bills will be sky high. As for the 6mm ply stuck to the underside of the lintel I can't see why not. Maybe with something a bit flexible like CT1 to allow movement given the two materials.
  4. This is about as exciting as it gets here trust me.
  5. Not sure if it'll save me much in terms of space. I might just get a bit of plasterboard to miss that elbow and be flush with the reveal: Got a few bits extra, it's not often I treat myself... Not sure now if I've wrenches big enough to do this!
  6. Careful what you wish for. I heard his tackle has a tendency to slip out unexpectedly from where it's meant to be. (He then posts pictures of the mess he's made).
  7. A bit here. Flickr down at the mo so can't access the pics I wanted. Basically I sat the bottom tile on a plastic packer at the back to just tilt it forward a little. The adhesive only squashes down so far.
  8. Don't have too much fall on those bottom tiles. I have 3 recesses, 2 deeper ones on one wall and a shallower one driven by the need to get at least some pir in the wall behind it. I think where the shallow pocket is there's only 25mm pir behind. I made a jig so in theory all pocket bottom tiles ended up at the same angle but with the shallow one stuff can slip off potentially. Maybe I got the angle wrong? I'll find some pics.
  9. Yes, or at least my lad did, a very basic realtime, text output using 4 DS18B20s and a Pi. Not the all singing, all dancing gui in the corner of the screen I'd hoped for. Printer is sitting gathering dust now he's back at uni.
  10. Anyone have a hankering to build an Airfix kit? ? https://www.thingiverse.com/search?q=nakozen+sprue&type=things&sort=relevant
  11. Gotcha. I was worried I'd be draining off the cleaner I'd just put in. Roll on Saturday for the drain down then.
  12. ?@PeterW, evening...tonight's daft question. I've 2L of system cleaner I want to put into the system. As I understand it, I drain the system, cut a section of pipe out and fit the Magnaclean, the system will be empty so I assume I just close the drain cock and pour in my 2L of cleaner in via the Magnaclean canister with both valves open. When I refill the system it mixes with the 2L of cleaner. I let this run around for however long then drain off and fill with fresh, clean water. However, if in the future I isolate via the valves and drain off to add say inhibitor, the InterKlean canister is less than a litre? Cheers
  13. I can't recommend this either. Sounds like the RAF have bought their Harriers back from the Yanks: https://www.myappliances.co.uk/Cata-E100GSTH-100mm-Silver-Glass-Bathroom-Fan-With-Humidistat-Display Looks the mutt' s nuts mind...
  14. He's both Very apt but generally referred to on here as his dungeon/Red Room
  15. Dry clean only? You dirty boy!
  16. Well I started my bathroom thread on one forum and (haven't yet) finished it on another. Kudos to those who can plan and budget. I'm easily distr
  17. At least he's not boring in bed! ?
  18. Bet you're wishing you hadn't designed that basement so no one can hear you scream! ?
  19. This is how it was when you lifted and it slipped. Right hand D shackle the wrong way round. I suspect that as you lifted, the pin of the right hand D pushed the left hand D upward. How you have the Ds now is better.
  20. You say "puncture" as in make a hole in I assume. Isn't that defeating the object? Can't the fire get up through the hole?
  21. Ta. I reckon I would struggle fitting one of these from your link above: The logistics...can't see how I'd wiggle it all in without moving the boiler. Guessing the window cill went in after the pipes were soldered. I can see perhaps why it was done with copper and soldered elbows. Thinking I'd have to separate at that elbow to the right of my hand, the one without any paint on and re solder...doable but too knackered to think at the mo. The more I try and think the more I think I could do it! ? I'll sleep on it!
  22. Btw I've spent a fortune on Acrypol+, Chromapol and various other acrylic roofing compounds on my 2 dormer roofs. They still leak.
  23. Tantric diy here, it's the journey not the destination!
  24. If your really unlucky, like me, they'll have "repaired" just the flat roof area by sticking felt on an just lapping it under the slates (tiles in my case): Water will get under there eventually!
