It does not matter how many times I measure something it's not what I think it is ?
-
I actually have TEN tape measures, the builders laugh at me, but wherever I am there is bound to be a tape measure close by ?

Ha, I found my mixing paddle to mix some self levelling compound the other day and after a cup of coffee I spent nearly two hours trying to find it again, yes I was on site on my own, no one to blame AAAARRRRGGGGGHHHHH?

Oh my gawd, it's still going on..........there should be a law against these things dragging on so long when a nuisance is being caused/debated. I like others still say it's a nuisance that can be proved by Mikee,s evidence?

I am only having one zone but the spark has run spare cables to plant room, manifold, airing cupboard , "better to have spares than run out" quoting the spark!.

My wife loves the smell of wood burning, only last night we walked around Bristol docks as it was a nice evening and we are leaving Bristol next week , passing several canal boats you could smell the wood burners going.?
-
Too right what Jeremy said, the building regs still say ( iirc) " shall not commit nuisance".

RHI up by a third (if you installed after 14 Dec 2016)
joe90 replied to richi's topic in Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP)
Thanks Ian, makes sense but I already have an ASHP that I bought on fleabay for £850 brand new!, I don't think anyone would sign off my install anyway. It's a bit like feed in tariffs for PV, I am not bothering with PV either, I have spent the £5G on my new toy anyway. -
My builder is like me and does not like 600mm joist spacings for first floor, he spec,d 400mm joist spacing with 22mm T&G chipboard. Proper job, no bounce.

Alarm Cable First Fix - Yes or No
joe90 replied to Barney12's topic in Networks, AV, Security & Automation
Well, apart from a "false" external alarm box I am not bothering with an alarm system. I know I am a Luddite but our new location is far from the madding crowd and on speaking to locals burgalry is virtually unheard of. Our doors and windows are the latest design with ref to being " secure by design" ( plus we have a dog and planning to keep geese!!!). -
My builder uses stair box, yet to get any quotes for my build.

I did not think RHI was worth bothering with, does this make much difference?. -

Starting to think about MVHR
joe90 replied to MikeGrahamT21's topic in Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR)
Forgot to add I am installing electric UFH in our ensuite and electric towel radiators in both bathrooms on timers. As our build is three bedrooms we had to have a six person treatment plant but most of the time it will only be two persons and that is the reason I chose the vortex plant as that is the only one that can be "turned down" to match the occupancy level. -

joe90 replied to MikeGrahamT21's topic in Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR)
I tend to agree on occupancy levels. I used to advocate running MVHR like central heating, I.e. It only runs when needed ( needs co sensors as well as rh) with our build site ( middle of nowhere so no pollutants) and our love of open windows I am not sure how often ( in the summer) it will be required. We need to suck it and see as they say. -

joe90 replied to MikeGrahamT21's topic in Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR)
As above from Jeremy, during the design stage of our build I discounted heaters wet or dry in the MVHR, have put in UFH downstairs from an ASHP but upstairs will have small electric heaters that can be plugged in IF it ever gets cold enough (which I doubt). -
Again at the risk of repeating myself my builders are great, apart from using my new gardening wheelbarrow for concrete and bashing it about a bit they are very good at keeping my tools separate from theirs.

I also found the extras cost much more than the unit I got from fleabay but I did make my own plenums and manifold incorporating silencers so only had to buy their ducting ( which was expensive enough ?).
