  1. Just got confirmation from Octopus that they don’t charge to fit an E7 meter once I sign up for supply, they did warn me it takes a few weeks tho. RESULT!.
  2. I wanted an induction hob for our new build but was over ruled by SWMBO who wanted gas ?
  3. I used these fir MVHR duct, if not deep enough drill from both sides (using the pilot drill as guide fir second cut) https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/60-100mm-M42-Metal-Hole-Saw-Holesaw-Cut-Arbor-Pilot-Drill-Bit-Wood-Plastic-w-Rod/122951642834?hash=item1ca07d2ed2:m:mNx1e8Qeo7ggwePJAGqnpjA
  4. There are good builders out there, I know I had one, very good attention to detail and with me as project manager very good at discussing my requirements. I designed the house but got an architect to just put it on CAD and make the building regs application for me. I had no financial pressure as I sold a big house to pay fir the build and it was within budget!
  5. The waste has to be washed away, my treatment plant can discharge to a ditch that is only wet most of the year if used in conjunction with a rumble drain.
  6. Just found a Which survey about good supply companies. https://www.which.co.uk/reviews/energy-companies/article/best-and-worst-energy-companies/which-energy-survey-results
  7. Ah, your tariff must relate to your area then (Damn). Right, Octopus 12m fixed it is then, I am waiting a reply to see what they charge to change the meter, if they do I will change to EDF with dual rate meter then immediately change to Octopus. also I will ask about E10 (as the above quote from Which indicates they give 10 hours but call it E7 ?????:) I will report back ?
  8. I did think of E10, just found this on the which website. “Octopus Energy can accept customers and put them on an Economy 7 tariff but with 10 off-peak hours.”I will contact them and ask if they can supply E10 and what the times and rates are.
  9. I am planning to heat DHW and UFH by ASHP overnight by using timers which should be the biggest users, on Octopus even the day rate and standing charge is cheaper than I currently pay??
  10. @Oz07 what supplier is that? (Hope they do my area)
  11. Right, finally got to check stuff and Octopus seem great, 21.13p per day against 32.09 currently paying. Day rate is 15.77 against currently paying 21.29 or Octopus offer E7 at 18.7 day rate and 10.45 night rate. From their website Octpus don’t say what it will cost to change the meter to E7 and green energy quoted £150 to do this. Anyone got any better deals out there? (Bearing in mind location might preclude some suppliers).
  12. I discharge to a ditch that is dry a couple of months a year. Got permission from EA which was quite easy and they were a great help (I did not know which river water eventually went to but they found it fir me). I had to use a rumble drain to connect treatment plant to the ditch which consisted of a trench with drainage stone, perforated pipe then Topped with membrane then soil. Reason is when the ditch is dry outfall will soak into rumble drain but when wet all will flow away.
  13. I had a water leak in my garden between meter and house, they came out and found it fir me using a listening rod, I repaired it (old stop cock buried under lawn). Water company refunded excess usage by comparing past water bills past ?. I was very surprised as the pipe was not theirs but ours. The water company may well be understanding.
  14. @ProDave, not your week mate, never mind, soon be summer ?. I must admit we still have a house in Bristol that we rent out but it’s a 270 mile round trip to sort anything out, we are thinking of selling it and buying something local so I can pop over and sort any issues.
  15. Seems odd you hear a good flow from the house end but don’t get a good flow at the top? Leak? Plough damaged pipe?.
  16. Best of luck tomorrow @ProDave
  17. Does location make a difference?, they do ask for your postcode!, @ProDave who is your supplier then?
  18. After @JSHarris switched to E7 I thought I would look into it, I am with green energy so looked at their tariffs and (if I read it right) E7 gives you slightly cheaper DAY RATE as well as cheap night rate and nearly identical charge per day rate, https://www.greenenergyuk.com/SimpleTariffs They already quoted me £150 to change the meter. whats not to like?
  19. @ProDave what’s your water pressure like?, if it’s like mine (6bar) could you not try connecting that with a hose and see if that shifts it ?
  20. I tend to refer to our house as “heavy” instead of high thermal mass after reading here about the truth about thermal mass, perhaps thermal capacity is a better term?
  21. It’s not that it does not exist, people just use the wrong name/terminology .
  22. ?They mention thermal mass !!!!!! (Don’t tell Jeremy?).
  23. Simply tell them your solicitor has confirmed you have a legal right of way that’s stated in the deeds, if they contest it you will employ said solicitor and be claiming costs from them, worth the bluff about costs ?
  24. I used to be a man!?( well, used tools with no ear protection!) got Tinitus now and slightly deaf and my son bought me a quality (German) radio headset to use, I find myself leaving it on even after using noisy tools.
  25. Sorry to hear this, if they don’t manage to sell the whole business then I am sure they would be looking to sell all they can to recoup money’s, for their creditors, no harm in asking.
