  1. @zoothorn shame your so far away, I like a challenge ?.
  2. Best of luck mate, can you not find someone to give you a hand, will make the job a lot easier.
  3. Looks like it’s got a floor already, you will know when you get it apart.?
  4. It’s just that I am a Luddite, I understand electrics, electro mechanicals (relays etc) but not electronics. I like woodwork and driving my 68 year old tractor ?. An interesting part of @JSHarris blog was a complicated, weather predicting means of controlling his heating that he designed (clever bloke eh) but he found a simple room stat worked better. I am not saying that all complicated stuff is unnecessary but I prefer a simple solution (that I might have a chance of understanding).
  5. Yup, just remembered I had to do this as well ?. My isolation valve is under the sink.
  6. This is what I did, Copper thro the wall and a hep 20 90’ bend inside which will take copper with no insert.
  7. I,m with @Nickfromwales, KISS every time. Less to go wrong!.
  8. Dave, Can’t you invent a PTO to fit the land rover ?, I have a spare furgy for sale but your a bit far away!. This is might be good, chainsaw and and fixed bench in one. https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/372485192387?chn=ps&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=710-134428-41853-0&mkcid=2&itemid=372485192387&targetid=487744081563&device=t&mktype=pla&googleloc=9045292&poi=&campaignid=1506023755&mkgroupid=63481328372&rlsatarget=pla-487744081563&abcId=1139576&merchantid=115139766&gclid=Cj0KCQjwgNXtBRC6ARIsAIPP7RuMjY0YQWw976BFAEpW-x6yhQFNXbktX50XQmL7gG2IKEOX7HIrZNEaAnQ2EALw_wcB
  9. I think it’s all about stability when messing with a chainsaw, I like these. https://www.screwfix.com/p/roughneck-loggers-mate-24cm-log-capacity-log-saw-horse/76387?wcBtc=SB6&ds_kid=92700022855719897&gclsrc=aw.ds&ds_rl=1241687&ds_rl=1245250&ds_rl=1244066&gclid=Cj0KCQjwgNXtBRC6ARIsAIPP7Ru-t6JsSoMZcVQTybSsfFaFExlMq8sZcv4RiWifSHnDM8R3gnD1YdMaAnoEEALw Long bits of log are ok on a horse but difficult to deal with the short bits. I bought one of these instead to stick on the back of my furgy
  10. Ha, or not, I have very little respect for planners as we were buggered about fir a couple of years, totally incompetent more like. Our local authority has a reputation for being difficult but I got great satisfaction in taking them to appeal (myself) and winning hands down with a caveat from the government appeal officer that our district planners were not abiding by their own policies. (Smug face).
  11. I would put two in (I tend to over engineer stuff, but it never moves). Can’t remember if you used treated joists, if you did then no need to treat but if not I would treat them with something.
  12. Yes, I was pushing my luck with a previous extension so dumped soil around it before the inspector arrived and removed it afterwards.!
  13. Yes, been there with my Mum, as my brother said at her funeral “we lost her twice, once to dementia and once to life itself”. Might sound daft but when I had my old (17 year old) Labrador put down, not only did he have cancer but I was sure he had dementia as he didn’t seem to recognise even me and I had him since a puppy. I hope someone shoots me if I get that bad. (I agree with dignitas!).
  14. Yes @zoothorn ! @PeterW idea is good, I would do it, I am sure someone will do you a diagram if you need one ( I am only any good with crayon ?). On the height issue just dump some soil around it to make up a couple of inches.
  15. @JSHarris so that’s how you can afford a spitfire flight? (Just joking).
  16. Not sure what you mean, @ProDave and I run our DHW at 48’ and we don’t need it hotter and tank losses are minimal. (Accepted that DHW tank may need to be slightly bigger).
  17. @Mischiefsmum sorry to hear of your loss, I too have had a similar loss some time ago. I too was warned about stress during our build and I got cancer twice during our build and my consultant firmly believed my cancer was caused by stress, not the build but past history. Personally my build kept me going, gave me a focus in life but I was lucky to have a brilliant builder who became a very good friend. Perhaps I am lucky, I refused to let problems get me down but considered them challenges (I am a retired builder so had a good insight on what was going on.) best of luck and keep us informed, this is a great place for information and very friendly.
  18. I agree with all said above. Ours is not quite passive (but sheds loads better than most builds!), we were warned about overheating because of our large south facing conservatory and bi folds into kitchen and lounge. Yes, in the (brief) summer it got a bit warm but no hotter than the south of France, so saved me paying for a holiday there!. Today the kitchen got down to 19’ first thing in the morning (had a ground frost) and the heating kicked in for a short while fir the first time this year, HOWEVER, lovely sunny day and kitchen and lounge quickly up to 20’ because of the solar gain, quicker that the UFH could raise that temp.!!! Actively thinking of going E7 to warm up the slab and DHW tank overnight. P.S. Note to self, get a room stat with smaller hysteresis!
  19. Just an Ebay seller, not a company (I think he was a professional Ebayer, buying and selling stuff). As long as it’s an invertor driven unit, most are re badged stuff, mine is a Kingspan re badged from a Carrier unit like @JSHarris bought. I think it’s luck, I bought mine 18months before I needed it. It was new, still shrink wrapped and on a pallet so worth a punt as it was so cheap. I don’t know about this make https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ecotec-7-KW-Air-Source-Heat-Pump/163912346034?hash=item2629efe9b2:g:9BcAAOSwZH1dmJ0H you need to be quick, or notice the seller and make an offer if it does not sell.
  20. This is what I did and it works great, didn’t want to run UFH pipes upstairs, and as @JSHarris says above about temp etc. KISS ?
  21. I have banned wipes but found some in the collection chamber of our treatment plant, everyone denied using them ?.
  22. You can get black IBC,s to stop algae forming!
  23. My only thought is inverters have a “life”, do we know how old they are? How much life is left?
  24. Didn’t get a reply and the bidding has ended early???. Very odd.
  25. Jack, “great minds think alike”, I considered an outside veg store opposite my ASHP to utilise all that wasted “coolth”.
