yes, but a bit late now.

I drill with a 6mm drill through wood and into blockwork, carefully tap rawlplug (red) into the wood , hammer it through into the block with the screw and a hammer and then tighten the screw. Or use 7mm drill and brown raw plug.

yes No, it will (should) be controlled by stats, radiator and room. it will just heat up more quickly.

Why don’t you put the frame back from the edge by a couple of inches, less likely to see the difference, and it’s an old cottage so this is called “character”.

Wood burning stove fireplace, how deep is recommended?
joe90 replied to epsilonGreedy's topic in Stoves, Fires & Fireplaces
I have never had to do this, with internal doors open and lots of thermal mass (?) to absorb the heat it dissipates nicely around the house and is still warm come the morning. -
As said above. ASHP,s are basic technology (fridge) it’s the operating systems that get complicated. Someone on this forum was clever enough to design a control system that even predicted the weather to control his system!. He removed it after a while and had one simple room stat and it worked well (as does mine).

I am sure there are people on this forum (cleverer than me) that can do the maths fir you regarding potential usage for your site so you can present the argument. I was given an 80amp fuse in my connection, have an ASHP, electric oven(s), and a workshop full of electric tools (and the usually washing machines etc). -
No, but at least you can feel the heat radiating at you from red hot radiators (even tho it disappears just as quickly).

What a load of b@@llocks, an inverter ASHP will use less power than a 10kW electric shower. I did not tell our power supplier about our ASHP as I had heard stories of them only knowing about non inverter models and hitting me with an upgrade cost, as it was they totally cocked up our installation telling us power from our overhead fed next door (our stroppy, appose everything neighbour) when it turned out it didn’t and I ended up with a pole in the corner of my plot for no reason and a large cable across the plot which I had to dig for to help “my” costs. When they sent me the final bill I point blank refused, listed all their mistakes and a bill fir the work I had to do. Didn’t hear back!. -
Welcome, lots of knowledge here and a few of us with an ASHP so bring on the questions.photo,s of kit might be helpfull.

I said this pages ago, @PeterW said this above. But you still keep asking questions about how YOU are going to sort it out. As said above you have a contract with however designed/installed it, get them to sort it out, that’s their job/responsibility. I designed and installed my own and it works very well but if I cocked it up I have no one to blame, YOU DO.

I have a neighbour with an old house that has an ASHP and it works well, but it is 4 times the output of mine and their house is colder, but as outdoor types they don’t mind.

Get the wall sealed ASAP and see if it works before pulling the wall apart .

Is this not what happened to @zoothorn ?.?

Can you give them a “review”and don’t hold back....... -
But to us self builders that designed it ourselves (like me) we have no one to blame (except @jeremy cus I copied him ?).
-
I also have a 4KW ASHP but with my level of insulation and draught proofing it works well, yes er indoors would like it warmer but it’s a constant 20-21 downstairs and 19-20 upstairs which is fine (IMO). I am sure if I ran it longer higher temps could be reached.
-
Can someone tell @zoothorn that!!,!

as long as the upgrade will still support your additional house?, or offer him 1/6 th of the cost to upgrade for 6 additional houses. -
Then why did you fell all your trees?
-
No, rads cold at the TOP need bleeding , rads cold at the bottom mean hot water has yet to fill the whole rad. (They heat from the top first as heat rises).

This from the woodland trust If the tree does not have a TPO and is not in a Conservation Area then you do not require permission to fell a tree if it is in your garden. I think you only need permission if you fell lots of trees, best to research this further. I have removed several large trees on my land and did not seek permission. -
unfortunately, it was someone else’s forest, you were just lucky enough to enjoy it for a while.

As I said many pages ago, it would appear the installation is not fit fir purpose. That should have been taken into account when they did the heat requirement calculations, if they got that wrong then they have designed a system NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE.
