  1. £9k for rendering that wall 😱, my brother has been quoted £6k for renewing his decking (I guess I will end up doing it 😎, but I don’t mind, his missus is an awesome cook! ).
  2. I love silver and hate black fir a car, silver is the colour of dust and black just never looks clean . (I have had both)
  3. Not heard that before and I have worked on loft conversions with sistered joists. Personally I prefer independent joists to avoid noise transference between floors.
  4. Well I painted everywhere magnolia and used existing furniture (mostly), I think you have to live in a house fir a while and the colours and “bits” will develop as you live in it.
  5. @prodave that’s what you did yes? I retired and built (with the help of a main contractor for the shell) our house, I certainly did not spend that much on the build.
  6. Sorry, missed this bit, yes I guess as long as the threads are the same?, ring the supplier and ask!
  7. Will the black bit come off? If so just put it in the inside, it won’t need to be “fitted “ just loose, then you won’t see it at all 🤷‍♂️
  8. Cable grip!
  9. I installed a Vortex and can’t fault it https://www.totalwastewatersystemsuk.co.uk
  10. Silver soldering, brazing or compressions???
  11. Yes, my mate bought a bungalow, paid for a comprehensive survey then after moving in he fell through the bedroom floor and it was full of woodworm, turned out the whole ground floor was riddled and he had to replace the lot, joists and all. Survey company said they were not allowed to lift carpets so we’re not liable 🤷‍♂️.
  12. Interesting, a friend did his loft with this and sold his house recently and it was never mentioned about being a problem!!!
  13. Rubbish, he calls himself a roofer?, get him back, he needs one of these https://www.screwfix.com/p/roughneck-wood-lead-dresser-175-x-50mm/589hj
  14. Yes I had to dispose of mine in a Sealed skip, lots of health and safety garb and expensive.
  15. Welcome, wow what a project. I replaced a timber and asbestos bungalow with a new build, it had similar issues as yours but I found the sole plate (bottom timber) had completely rotted away so renovating would have been a non starter anyway. Yes a static caravan on site would be a good move, free accommodation whilst working on the bungalow. I have renovated many houses but living in it whilst working is a nightmare. Looking forward to pictures and updates.
  16. I have a woodworking bench (clean) and a metal working bench (oily).
  17. Yup, our BC knew my builder by reputation, did not test anything and just trusted him (me).
  18. We had no drainage conditions from our planners! Just the BI asking when building?
  19. I hope it goes well for you 🤞
  20. Oh yes mate, very well, I had to make up a few chassis sections etc but bought cills, quarter panels and floor sections that were complicated. 👍
  21. No two BI,s are the same or read the rules the same, you will need to negotiate with them, access at every change if direction is normsal, again discuss with your BI to see what he wants.
  22. My builder did exactly this, I was a bit surprised but he used it often in our clay type soil. I also talked the BI out of needing a soakaway as it would just sit full of water and all the rain went to the ditch before the house was built anyway 🤷‍♂️.
  23. Yes, all the welding done, just need to spray it and put it back together 🙄.
  24. Sorry all dealt with by my builder.
