Oh that’s not right, speak to them I always found them helpful (and they answer their phones fairly quickly).

Yes, is that because you want fixed rate or 3 phase?. I am on a variable rate and read my own meter, I like to pay fir what I use and not let someone else bank my savings during the summer 🤷♂️. Could you sign up online then change?

Very often chimneys were build without a full lead tray (like a damp course) and relied on any damp evaporating in a cold (ventilated) loft. It looks like you have a loft conversion or similar so nowhere for damp to evaporate. It’s probably cheaper to get it taken down and roof over than have it re built properly (if you really need it?).

QQ- description of development wording in an application
joe90 replied to StellaSa's topic in Planning Permission
Yes, but they are planners without a scooby of the real world and accountable to no one. -
No, my place down there, the judge decided it was my responsibility to replace the temp supply I installed.

I applied to South West Water in the new year for a new supply to my build, they told me the requirements and I installed my pipe up to the boundary ready for their connection and meter pit. The did a survey and told me the water main was inside the field opposite and would need a road closure. They gave me a quote and i paid it. After months of waiting I chased them to be told they were waiting for my confirmation I was ready. I told them i was ready when the survey was done and their inspector saw it. They then told me it was booked in for OCTOBER!!!, despite being annoyed I politely agreed. They then told me I had not gained permission from the owner of the field to complete the connection. I pointed out the connection to the main was their infrastructure and I only owned the pipe from my boundary, all other pipe work was theirs 🤯. Despite my arguing they insisted and gave me the phone number of the land owner who I called and bless him he was as confused as me as he agreed it was their pipes and work and he had already told them he was In agreement, still I reported this back to S W Water. Pissup and brewery spring to mind.

Seek and yea shall find. https://www.corston.com/products/13a-fcu-antique-brass-1 Still does not have a cord hole but you could drill one and use a cable tie to act as a grip.
-
I suppose that’s possible with a Grommet but you will not have a cord grip or fuse 🤷♂️

£26.85. FFS 🤯

It’s the rest that needs finishing 🤷♂️(sorry bud)
-
Not heard that before, any technical reason why?
-
As @markc says above, fiddly because the cables are thick, make sure you do the screws up tight as they carry a lot of current and I have seen arching and failure due to screws not being tight enough.

Why does my combi boiler fire up when I run cold water?
joe90 replied to joe90's topic in General Plumbing
Right chaps, finally got around to moving the PRV to the incoming supply (it was wet on Saturday so indoor jobs a must) even at 2 bar (which I set it too fir the outside tap) shower flow is still very good and no more boiler hiccups and toilet filling quieter. Thanks guys 👍 -
Yes, I used one on a previous garage floor (even smaller) and it gave a brilliant result (lucky perhaps) yes a beast to control but I found it quick to learn how to control. It’s not that bad In hindsight, rubbing a few areas with a concrete block then a coat of paint will be great. The garage “kit” is coming Friday so looking forward to building it.

Abode is difficult to move.

Well no one “built” those. Disadvantages of polypropylene: It has a high thermal expansion coefficient which limits its high temperature applications. It is susceptible to UV degradation • It has poor resistance to chlorinated solvents and aromatics. It is known to be difficult to paint as it has poor bonding properties. It has a high flammability. no 4 is probably why it’s not good as house insulation (rockwall is a very fire resistant material).
-
Very interesting, the Romans invented concrete which is energy/carbon intensive and some of their stuff is still standing, so not bad in the scheme of things. With my own Passive esk building I used concrete and PIR for slab and insulation but Rockwall insulation elsewhere as I wanted to limit my “plastic” use as much as I could. The building uses very little energy to heat and keep comfortable so overall better for the environment long term 🤷♂️

In my last build I set the DHW to 48’, no TMV,s, larger DHW tank and ASHP COP very good.

Depends on how much support you have (distance between roof timbers and their size). You can always add noggins or more rafters.
-
Well no problem today, heavy rain overnight and a soggy day ahead. Rainwater butt full and more planned .
-
I would disagree, in these times of water wastage it makes sense to water in the evening so the water does not evaporate as quickly as midday in sunshine and soak in to be absorbed by the plants. Like Monty Don I don’t believe in watering (unless using rain water). We need to change the flowers and plants etc we grow to match the climate we now have. IMO anyone with an irrigation system from the mains must be on a water meter.

Also, depending on the construction, jacking it up with acros one end. We need @Tide2 to supply more info.

The OP makes it sound like it’s already laid, @Tide2 ?
