I had to return an order to a German company (reuter.de) today. This is how the order arrived. If at the time of refusing the delivery, I'd have known what I know now, I would not have sent it back. Why? read on.... Megabad stopped delivering to the UK last year sometime. Reuter.de were cheaper than Megabad sometimes, so I ordered from them because they continued to deliver to the UK. Chatting to the guy in the Returns Department I find out that reuter.de is no longer shipping to the UK from the end of this month So bang goes that way of saving 20% then (with a further 20%off by reclaiming the VAT).... I have some other things on order - washbasins - there's a 3 week wait for them: not sure whether they're going to be delivered..... bit cross about that because if thats the case I should not have been able to purchase them. Worse things happen at sea eh?

Thanks very much @Temp Good idea. Just like I have seen done on an outside drain, where the pipe is really inaccessible, but a 45 degree bend incorporated into the pipe makes the whole length (bar a few mm) cleanable.

We really wanted coffer lighting ( sometimes called cove lighting), like this - or something like this ] But now that I've read Lucy Martin (2003) The Bible of Home Lighting (page 111) and looked at our ceiling level I realise the importance of a callout on page 111 Bummer. Short of sawing off the bottom chord of a few POSIs ...... And then I saw this YT video of Robin Clevett's kitchen. Made me think I might just be able to squeeze one in. When all the ceiling PB and skimming and floor is finished we should have a little under 2.4m clearance. Thats not enough is it? Any way round this little hiccup?

Its 100mm, Ed Exactly as planned - in our case a bit of a suprise really ? So the drain from the shower tray - as shown above will likely cut into the top bit of the top layer of the the EPS 100 . The Radon DPM layer is 200 below the bottom of the concrete Does that matter? There is a Wedi Riofino shower tray that has a horizontal drain: but I suspect there might be a hissing and a booing about horizontal drains from the Commentariat about that {?} It shows that the drain is 60mm or so deep ( i.e. dig out 65mm), which means that I would not have to cut into the EPS 100 below it. What do you think?

Yes, read that. But, but but. I'm living with mistakes made long ago. The configuration of both the foul wastes and the window (smack bang in the centre of the north wall) together mean that we cant have a screen. But - to get through the Regs - we will need a screen of sorts. We will erect a temporary shower curtain, wait until sign off, and then take it down. Which is why I am grateful for @Onoff's advice (and others) to tank the place to oblivion

For a self-build, the business case for something like KwikStage (others available) is compelling. Just about to sell ours and expect to get back what we paid - roughly. Have you looked at the rental costs? Heaving KwikStage around under trees and near hedges would be a real pain in the Botticelli.

Small area of electric underfloor heat ( a square meter or so) On the east wall, we'd like Multipanel. Elsewhere tiles. Lets start with a simple question: walls before floor or the other way round?
