  1. Easy tiger. I know plenty of people who would wait for your house to be half built, then set it alight, for chopping down a tree that was not on your land. You are right that you are able to cut all overhanging branches, and roots, but if you kill the tree, or it keels over, you will be liable. I understand your frustration, but you can't just destroy somebody else's property, because it happens to be of benifit to you. I would sue your butt so far down the road you would have no money left to build your house. P.S I'm not your neighbour, but if i was i would want Two new trees, and £10k minimun. And, that's if i liked you.
  2. Peter can now see the glue Zoot, because the drink has worn off?
  3. Zoot the Hoot. That is a mighty fine looking job fella. Are you left handed ? So far you should have no scrap. Ie. start in far right hand corner. Work to the left, and whatever you cut off the last board becomes the start of your next row.
  4. They argued that the canal was part of the land that was gifted.......
  5. One of my local blokes wanted £1500 just to look at it.......
  6. Can't agree i'm afraid. If the P.c. object in my area, and many others that i know, then the application has to go to committee. Waste of time and money, and is why P.C vote should be taken away.
  7. I can also help Joe with advice. Tidy the bloody workshop.?
  8. It is daft though. You would think that the planners could, every now and then, could engage the One brain cell that they share between them.
  9. Some of the boat people can be a strange breed. I know a few boaters who have managed to reside on the wrong side of the canal, against land that was gifted years ago for the enjoyment of the public. They told the relevant bods to bugger off when they came knocking, and have been there for years.
  10. And that's the trouble Jeremy. If you are on the P.C. and want a swimming pool enclosure, or a large extension. No problem. At the last P.C. meeting, they were looking at a total of 12 planning applications. No new builds, just extensions. They objected to all of them. That means that all those applications now have to go to committee. What a waste of public funds, and time. They have zero training, and i would go as far as taking the vote away from them. The only people who should be allowed to object, are the neighbours who may be directly effected.
  11. Good luck to him. To many busy body Parish Council knobs, that object to everything, just for the sake of it, and the power trip.
  12. I did one in lead about 30 mt long, and it cost me a bloody fortune.
  13. Bosch, i believe, is now all made in UAE. Tools in the last 25 years have become much cheaper, just like washing machines, dishwashers etc. Most beople, i believe, would no longer consider getting a washing machine repaired if it is over a couple of years old. £200 will buy you a new one. You can buy a new combi boiler for £400. Things have got much cheaper. On the basis that they are made to a price point (Crap)
  14. I can't help with the engineering side, but i have used timber i beams lots of times. I personally would dump all the steels i could, and go with the timber.
  15. Fab, handy little tool. I bought a bosch, but it used to eat the batteries, so bought a corded Makita. Do love the corded Makita, and it comes with a very long lead.
  16. 2 pack poly varnish is the only way to go on wood worktops.
  17. I would be more than happy to run a towel over her all day long.
  18. Had one in a posh house i worked on. step out of the shower, dance around a bit. 30 seconds later, you are dry. Bit like a big hand dryer in the ceiling.
  19. Or have a flush mounted ceiling high powered fan. Out of shower, stand under. No towel needed. Proper posh.
  20. Do it 200mm wide tall jobie will work wonders, and your manhood will thank you.?
  21. I feel your pain. When i ran my kitchen company for 20 years, i got to the point of never doing wood worktops in a kitchen. Whoever thought that wood was a good idea in a kitchen !!!! The other thing to try, is a local French polisher, who will be able to remove/ hide the stains. Then get them properly sealed. Don't start sanding them. You would be surprised how deep they will go.
  22. A huge shed like that can be every bit as good as a trad build, but perhaps not worth as much for re-sale.
  23. I would have a small electric curtain heater above the door. I don't like being in the nuddy without heat. It just don't show me off to my best ?
  24. *0mm is bloody tight for a nice fluffy towel. I hope you are well insulated, i have always found that a towel rail as the only source of heat to be a bit rubbish when covered withb a towel.
